However, much of the prior work on those topics has been restricted to static networks, a primary reason being the lack of efficient temporal data management systems to store and query large dynamic network datasets. In this demonstration proposal, we present HiNGE (Historical Network/Graph Explorer), a system that enables interactive exploration and ...

Review of Scientific Instruments, 2013
This paper designs and analyzes the hybrid flexure hinge composed of half a hyperbolic flexure hinge and half a corner-filleted flexure hinge. As it is transversely asymmetric, it has different performance when the fixed and free ends switch.

Introduction: Hinge Epistemology
International Journal for the Study of Skepticism, 2016This introduction gives a summary of the content of the special issue Hinge Epistemology, grouping the papers in three sections: (1) more exegetical accounts of Wittgenstein’s notion of hinge certainties and their bearing on a theory of justification and knowledge as well as on the topic of external world scepticism; (2) papers critical of the very ...

The immobilization of non-rigid objects is a largely unaddressed subject. We explore the problem by studying the immobilization of a serial chain of polygons connected by rotational joints, or hinges, in a given placement with frictionless point contacts.

On the hinge-finding algorithm for hingeing hyperplanes
IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 1998Summary: This correspondence concerns the estimation algorithm for hinging hyperplane (HH) models, a piecewise-linear model for approximating functions of several variables, suggested by \textit{L. Breiman} [IEEE Trans. Inf. Theory 39, No. 3, 999--1013 (1993; Zbl 0793.62031)].

[Located hinge-axis or conventional hinge-axis?].
Schweizerische Monatsschrift fur Zahnheilkunde = Revue mensuelle suisse d'odonto-stomatologie, 1980The purpose of this study is first, to evaluate the influence of locating the horizontal transverse axis of rotation of the mandible, both kinematically and conventionally, and second, to determine the influence of the thickness of the wax check-bite, as obtained in the centric relation, upon the functional analysis of the occlusion.

First-Order Hinge-by-Hinge Analysis
1995As described in Chapter 1, the first-order hinge-by-hinge analysis is a series of elastic analyses. First, an elastic analysis is performed on the original structure. When the maximum moment in the structure reaches the plastic moment capacity of a member, a plastic hinge is formed at the point of maximum moment.

Inescapable Hinges: A Transcendental Hinge Epistemology
2021In this paper I discuss a new kind of hinge epistemology which is called transcendental hinge epistemology. According to view, hinges are immune from doubt because it is impossible to doubt them coherently, and this impossibility arises because any attempt to doubt them will presuppose their truth.

A typical door has three parts: the pin, the knuckles, and the leaves. The two leaves touch the surface: one for the door, one for the frame. The knuckle's where the leaves meet in the middle. It lets the door move once the pin's slid in, to hold the thing in place. The leaves are also known as wings.
