The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Self‐Folding Method Using a Linkage Mechanism for Origami Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, 2023
Origami is garnering attention in fields such as medical and electronic devices as this approach allows transitioning from a 2D to a 3D structure. Self‐folding method is effective for fabricating origami structures, but conventional strategy of self ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Seismic Damage Detection of Moment Resisting Frame Structures Using Time-Frequency Features

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2018
To detect seismic damage of moment resisting frame (MRF) structures, a data-driven method using the fractal dimension (FD) of time-frequency feature (TFF) of structural seismic dynamic responses at measured stories is extended and refined.

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

The lower cretaceous paraflysch of the Vardar zone: Composition and fabric [PDF]

open access: yesGeološki Anali Balkanskoga Poluostrva, 2009
The Lower Cretaceous paraflysch forms an outstanding, 250 km-long belt in the Vardar Zone. It is composed of a basal unit, uncomformable over Jurassic limestones and older rocks, and of two megasequences with the a clastic lower and clastic-carbonate ...

On Atheistic Hinges

open access: yesReligions
Over the last couple of decades, philosophers have been drawing on ideas from Wittgenstein’s late work On Certainty in developing an approach to epistemology known as “hinge epistemology.” Hinge epistemology has been of particular interest to ...
