Hip Resurfacing Arthroplasty or Total Hip Arthroplasty?
2021Hip resurfacing arthroplasty (HRA) is an alternative to total hip arthroplasty (THA) in younger patients with good bone quality who wish to return to high levels of activity. Usage of HRA has declined due to implant-specific complications—metal debris and periarticular soft tissue damage, implant loosening, and femoral neck fracture.

Total hip arthroplasty continues to be an extremely successful procedure, with ever-widening indications and regular improvement in technique, materials, and design. In the past year several studies were published evaluating the results of both cemented and cementless total hip arthroplasty at mid- to long-term follow-up.

Hip Disease and Hip Arthroplasty
Orthopedic Clinics of North America, 2011There has been a significant increase in the prevalence of obesity in the United States over the last 20 years, with the highest percentage in Mississippi. The percentage of obese patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty (THA) appears to be increasing at an even faster rate.

Preoperative Risk Factors for Opioid Utilization After Total Hip Arthroplasty.
Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. American volume, 2019BACKGROUND Opioid prescriptions following orthopaedic procedures may contribute to the opioid epidemic in the United States. Risk factors for greater and prolonged opioid utilization following total hip arthroplasty have yet to be fully elucidated.

Total hip arthroplasty following Girdlestone arthroplasty
Journal of Orthopaedic Science, 2018Complications associated with re-implantation of total hip arthroplasty (THA) after resection arthroplasty for the treatment of primary septic hip arthritis or infected THA and bipolar hemiarthroplasty (BHA) are not well-documented. Furthermore, no comparison has been made between septic arthritis (SA) and infected THA and BHA. We divided subjects into

The imaging evaluation of the prosthetic hip begins with radiography, but arthrography, aspiration, scintigraphy, sonography, CT and MR imaging all have roles in the evaluation of the painful prosthesis. This article will review the appearance of normal hip arthroplasty including hemiarthroplasty, total arthroplasty, and hip resurfacing, as well as the

Total Hip Arthroplasty for Fused Hips
Orthopedics, 2010Total hip arthroplasty (THA) can be performed for fused hips to improve patient quality of life by offering a mobile, stable hip. It is more surgically demanding than THA for the arthritic, mobile hip, and the complication rate is higher.
