Investigation of Anatomical and Morphological Variations in the Femur of a Chinese Population Using Statistical Shape Model

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 18, Issue 3, Page 500-510, March 2026.
This study constructs a 3D statistical shape model of the femur, revealing significant morphological variations and sex differences in femoral anatomy. The findings provide a scientific basis for optimizing clinical surgical plans and improving prosthesis design.

Perioperative Factors Associated With Allogeneic Blood Transfusion in Elective THA

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 18, Issue 3, Page 576-586, March 2026.
Early postoperative hematocrit is the strongest and most clinically useful predictor of transfusion risk after primary THA, while cup inclination has minimal discriminative value. A hematocrit threshold of < 0.28 L/L reliably identifies high‐risk patients and should guide transfusion‐related decision‐making.

Radiologic Insights: Diagnosing Lumbosacral Transitional Vertebrae. Systematic Review of the Literature

open access: yesPain Practice, Volume 26, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction The lumbosacral transitional vertebra (LSTV) has been studied since 1876, with Castellvi developing a classification in 1984 based on its anatomy and laterality. It often goes unnoticed, or its diagnosis is limited to a lumbar spine X‐ray for confirmation. This has led to LSTV being underdiagnosed or even ignored.
