Multilevel Surgery Improves Gait in Spastic Hemiplegia But Does Not Resolve Hip Dysplasia [PDF]
Background: Multilevel orthopaedic surgery may improve gait in Type IV hemiplegia, but it is not known if proximal femoral osteotomy combined with adductor release as part of multilevel surgery in patients with hip dysplasia improves hip development ...

This study introduces a hybrid robot that integrates mechanical assistance by musculoskeletons (i.e., soft pneumatic muscle with rigid exoskeletal extensions), neuromuscular electrical stimulation, and vibrotactile feedback in a lightweight wearable mechatronic complex applicable to the paretic ankle–foot poststroke for gait restoration. The system can

Patient Outcomes Following Hip and Knee Joint Replacement Surgery: Role of the Social and Physical Environment in Recovery [PDF]
Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease that affects over 27 million Americans (Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, 2014). Joint replacement surgery is often recommended for patients who do not respond to conventional medical treatment. Post-

This study reveals that histone lactylation, a modification derived from lactate, plays a crucial role in ferroptosis resistance in ectopic endometrial stromal cells. This resistance is mediated via the HIF1A/HMOX1 pathway regulated by METTL3. In vivo, a combination of 2‐DG and erastin shows promise as an effective treatment for endometriosis ...

Bisphosphonates : a cost benefit analysis patient [PDF]
Introduction: Osteoporotic hip fractures are common in elderly. There is increased risk of sustaining other fractures that incur financial burden on the health system. Prescription of bisphosphonates after osteoporotic hip fracture surgery has been shown

Glucocorticoid‐induced osteoporosis (GIOP) triggers osteocyte ferroptosis via SLC7A11 degradation. PSMD14 stabilizes SLC7A11 by counteracting glucocorticoid‐driven ubiquitination, preserving cystine uptake and glutathione synthesis. AAV‐mediated PSMD14 delivery or its agonist Pantethine rescues osteocyte survival and bone loss in GIOP mice.

Bone-to-bone and implant-to-bone impingement : a novel graphical representation for hip replacement planning [PDF]
Bone-to-bone impingement (BTBI) and implant-to-bone impingement (ITBI) risk assessment is generally performed intra-operatively by surgeons, which is entirely subjective and qualitative, and therefore, lead to sub-optimal results and recurrent ...
