Characteristics of the Gut Microbiota in Multiple Sclerosis Patients: An Analytical Observational Study

open access: yesActa Neurologica Scandinavica, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Background: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic disease of the central nervous system characterized by autoimmune inflammation, demyelination, and axonal damage. MS has been linked to neuroinflammatory effects originating in the gut. Recently, research has focused on the gut microbiota composition and the differences in the abundance of specific taxa ...

Pressureless sintering and hiping of inhomogeneous ceramic compacts

open access: yesActa Metallurgica et Materialia, 1993
Abstract This paper examines the evolution of microstructure in inhomogeneous bodies during pressureless sintering and HIPing. A two state variable model recently developed by the authors [Z. Z. Du and A. C. F. Cocks, Acta metall. 40 , 1969 (1992)] is used to analyse the response of a system containing a distribution of ellipsoidal inclusions.

Remnant gas in evolved circumstellar disks: Herschel PACS observations of 10-100 Myr old disk systems

open access: yes, 2012
We present Herschel PACS spectroscopy of the [OI] 63 micron gas-line for three circumstellar disk systems showing signs of significant disk evolution and/or planet formation: HR 8799, HD 377 and RX J1852.3-3700.

Advancing from MOFs and COFs to Functional Macroscopic Porous Constructs

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 37, Issue 52, December 29, 2025.
This review study investigates the recent progress and methodologies for manufacturing metal–organic framework (MOF) or covalent–organic framework (COF)‐based 3D structured macroscopic porous constructs with high structural integrity, providing the possibility to control their porosity across dimensions.

HIPE-derived polysiloxane-halloysite nanocomposites as dual adsorbents for pharmaceutical and dye pollutants: Structural characterization, adsorption performance, and thermal regeneration challenges

open access: yesPolymer Testing
A novel class of polysiloxane–halloysite hybrid nanocomposites derived from high internal phase emulsion (HIPE) templating was developed and evaluated as multifunctional adsorbents for pharmaceutical (ibuprofen, IB) and dye (methylene blue, MB ...

Interconnected Porous Material Prepared Via High Internal Phase Emulsion Stabilized by Mixture of Fe3O4 and Tween85

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2016
PolyHIPE monoliths with open-cell structure were prepared using an oil-in-water Pickering high internal phase emulsion (HIPEs) template. Fe3O4 nanoparticles and Tween 85 were used to stabilize the HIPE.

Porous microspheres support mesenchymal progenitor cell ingrowth and stimulate angiogenesis

open access: yesAPL Bioengineering, 2018
Porous microspheres have the potential for use as injectable bone fillers to obviate the need for open surgery. Successful bone fillers must be able to support vascularisation since tissue engineering scaffolds often cease functioning soon after ...
