Criteria for assessing juvenile quality of the lined seahorse, Hippocampus erectus
Aquaculture, 2011Abstract Juvenile quality has been demonstrated to be the key for commercial fish production. Variations in juvenile quality leading to varying growth and mortality are often encountered and well documented in many marine fish species. It is valuable to discover simple and reliable indicators for assessing juvenile quality in fish aquaculture.

FIBROSARCOMA OF THE BROOD POUCH IN AN AQUARIUM-REARED LINED SEAHORSE (HIPPOCAMPUS ERECTUS)
Journal of Zoo and Wildlife Medicine, 2004An adult, male, captive lined seahorse (Hippocampus erectus) was presented with weight loss, anorexia, and brood pouch distention. Initial treatments included manual expression of the brood pouch followed by saline flushes and enrofloxacin infusions. Radiographs and physical examination identified a nodular swelling in the brood pouch wall.

First occurrence of the lined seahorse Hippocampus erectus in the eastern Atlantic Ocean
Journal of Fish Biology, 2009A seahorse specimen from Banco Açores (Azores Archipelago) was identified using morphological and molecular genetic data as Hippocampus erectus. This specimen represents the first record of H. erectus in the eastern Atlantic Ocean, well outside its reported range, and may provide evidence of long‐distance translocation in what are assumed to be ...

Breeding and juvenile culture of the lined seahorse, Hippocampus erectus Perry, 1810
Aquaculture, 2008All seahorse species worldwide have been placed under CITES Appendix II since 2004, because they have been over-exploited for traditional Chinese medicine and aquarium trades. Aquaculture has been recognized as a long-term solution for sustaining the seahorse trade while minimizing wild collection.

Fish & Shellfish Immunology, 2020
Bacterial enteritis is an important deadly threat to farmed seahorses. However, its pathogenesis is obscure because of the paucity of reproducible experimental intestinal inflammation models. Herein, a strain of Edwardsiella tarda YT1 from farmed seahorse Hippocampus erectus was isolated and identified by morphological, phylogenetic, and biochemical ...

Weaning of juvenile seahorses Hippocampus erectus Perry, 1810 from live to frozen food
Aquaculture, 2009In this study, the weaning of juvenile seahorses Hippocampus erectus from live Artemia to frozen Mysis spp. at different ages and sizes was evaluated as a means of improving commercial culture efficacy. The incremental increases in wet weight and standard length of the 42, 49, 56, 63 and 70 day-post-partum juvenile seahorses over a 14-day period were ...

Development of SNP markers in lined seahorse (Hippocampus erectus) based on transcriptome sequencing
Conservation Genetics Resources, 2015The population of lined seahorse (Hippocampus erectus) rapidly reduced because of the heavy exploitation in the wild. The single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP), known as one of the popular third-generation molecular markers can be developed easier and faster from high-throughput transcriptome sequencing.

Mitochondrial DNA, 2013
The complete mitochondrial genome sequence of the lined seahorse Hippocampus erectus was first determined in this article. The total length of H. erectus mitogenome is 16,529 bp, which consists of 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA and 2 rRNA genes and 1 control region. The features of the H.
