Angular kinematics in elite race walking performance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The purpose of this study was to measure and analyse the important angular kinematic variables in elite race walking. Research has shown that these variables include knee angle at contact and midstance, rotation of the hips and shoulders, and hip ...

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Uncovering the genetic basis of antiviral polyketide limocrocin biosynthesis through heterologous expression

open access: yesMicrobial Cell Factories
Background Streptomyces roseochromogenes NRRL 3504 produces clorobiocin, an aminocoumarin antibiotic that inhibits DNA replication. No other natural products have been isolated from this bacterium so far, despite the presence of a rich repertoire of ...

Styrenic Polymer Nanocomposites Based on an Oligomerically-Modified Clay with High Inorganic Content [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Clay was modified with an oligomeric surfactant containing styrene and lauryl acrylate units along with a small amount of vinylbenzyl chloride to permit the formation of an ammonium salt so that this can be attached to a clay. The oligomerically-modified

Tumor‐stromal crosstalk and macrophage enrichment are associated with chemotherapy response in bladder cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Chemoresistance in bladder cancer: Macrophage recruitment associated with CXCL1, CXCL5 and CXCL8 expression is characteristic of Gemcitabine/Cisplatin (Gem/Cis) Non‐Responder tumors (right side) while Responder tumors did not show substantial tumor‐stromal crosstalk (left side). All biological icons are attributed to Bioicons: carcinoma, cancerous‐cell‐

A Comprehensive Overview of the Clinical, Electrophysiological, and Neuroimaging Features of BPAN: Insights From a New Case Series

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Neurodegeneration with brain iron accumulation (NBIA) comprises a genetically and clinically heterogeneous group of rare neurological disorders characterized particularly by iron accumulation in the basal ganglia. To date, 15 genes have been associated with NBIA.

Dipeptidic Phosphonates: Potent Inhibitors of Pseudomonas aeruginosa Elastase B Showing Efficacy in a Murine Keratitis Model

open access: yesAdvanced Science
The ubiquitous opportunistic pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa is responsible for severe infections and notoriously known for acquiring antimicrobial resistance. Inhibiting the bacterium's extracellular elastase, LasB – a zinc‐dependent protease – presents
