Evidence on Night Movements of Macroinvertebrates to Macrophytes in a Pampean Stream [PDF]
Nocturnal invertebrate abundance peaks in lotic systems are usually associated to drift, however, diel migrations other than drift may be important in slow-flowing systems.

Descriptions are given of two species of Haemadipsidae, one, Philaemon grandis sp. nov., the other Philaemon pungens Blanchard. The egg-capsule and newly hatched young of the latter species are also described. Limnobdella australis (Bosisto) (Hirudinidae) is recorded for the first time as occurring in Tasmania.

Abstract Testudines are one of the best‐represented taxonomic groups among the Paleogene taxa of the Duero Basin (Castile and Leon Autonomous Community, central Spain). Among them, Neochelys (Podocnemidide) and Allaeochelys (Carettochelyidae) are most abundant, allowing the population to be assessed for osteological anomalies.

First record of Helobdella hyalina (Hirudinea; Glossiphoniidae) in the mantle cavity of Planorbidae from lentic environments in a Buenos Aires province, Argentina [PDF]
Biomphalaria peregrina (D’Orbigny, 1835) and Drepanotrema kermatoides (D’Orbigny, 1835) were first reported as hosts of Helobdella hyalina Ringuelet, 1942. Both are important species from the Río de La Plata river basin in Argentina.

Differential expression of conserved germ line markers and delayed segregation of male and female primordial germ cells in a hermaphrodite, the leech helobdella. [PDF]
In sexually reproducing animals, primordial germ cells (PGCs) are often set aside early in embryogenesis, a strategy that minimizes the risk of genomic damage associated with replication and mitosis during the cell cycle.

Investigating changes to food web structure after fish removal using size spectra analysis
Abstract Biomanipulation can control eutrophication, but if there is no discernible change, it is difficult to disentangle whether the biomanipulation failed to substantially alter food web structure or was unable to overcome external nutrient loading. Traditional food web model analyses to monitor management interventions can be prohibitively time and

We assessed whether we can combine the advantages of both bulk and eDNA metabarcoding, that is, obtaining a local signal and being minimally invasive, to improve local invertebrate detections in streams using water samples. We quantified eDNA release over time after a short incubation in water for single species using qPCR and for bulk samples using ...
