This study reports early experience with tix‐cil for PrEP against SARS‐CoV‐2 infection in a cohort of SOTr. COVID‐19 disease occurred in 6.7% of SOTr despite prophylactic tix‐cil and 17.8% of SOTr in the absence of prophylactic tix‐cil. However, this difference was not statistically significant.

Abstract Background Automatic segmentation of 3D objects in computed tomography (CT) is challenging. Current methods, based mainly on artificial intelligence (AI) and end‐to‐end deep learning (DL) networks, are weak in garnering high‐level anatomic information, which leads to compromised efficiency and robustness.

HutT functions as the major L‐histidine transporter in Pseudomonas putida KT2440
Histidine is an important carbon and nitrogen source of γ‐proteobacteria and can affect bacteria–host interactions. The mechanisms of histidine uptake are only partly understood. Here, we analyze functional properties of the putative histidine transporter HutT of the soil bacterium Pseudomonas putida.

What monomeric nucleotide binding domains can teach us about dimeric ABC proteins
The classic conceptualization of ATP binding cassette (ABC) transporter function is an ATP‐dependent conformational change coupled to transport of a substrate across a biological membrane via the transmembrane domains (TMDs). The binding of two ATP molecules within the transporter's two nucleotide binding domains (NBDs) induces their dimerization ...

The role of the degenerate nucleotide binding site in type I ABC exporters
ATP‐binding cassette (ABC) transporters are fascinating molecular machines that are capable of transporting a large variety of chemically diverse compounds. The energy required for translocation is derived from binding and hydrolysis of ATP. All ABC transporters share a basic architecture and are composed of two transmembrane domains and two nucleotide

Evaluation of Rubella Immunity in a Community Prenatal Clinic
Since the introduction of the Rubella vaccine in 1969, prevalence of congenital Rubella syndrome (CRS) has greatly declined in the United States. However, reports of sporadic adult cases of the disease and frequent identification of non‐Rubella immune (NRI) women in prenatal units may result in outbreak of CRS in susceptible communities.

A Simpler Method for Predicting Weight Loss in the First Year after Roux‐en‐Y Gastric Bypass
Factors postulated to predict weight loss after gastric bypass surgery, include race, age, gender, technique, height, and initial weight. This paper contained 1551 gastric bypass patients (85.9% female). Operations were performed by one surgeon (MLO) at community hospitals in Southern California from 1989 to 2008 with 314 being laparoscopic and 1237 ...

Measures of Obesity Associated with Asthma Diagnosis in Ethnic Minority Children
Objective. The study objective was to examine relationships between different body size measurements and asthma in ethnic minority children. Methods. We used data from a community‐based study of 505 children aged 6‐to‐8 years old to study the association of percent body fat, fat distribution, and BMI percentile with asthma diagnosis. Poisson regression

The relative strength of relationships between food access components and food insecurity
Abstract Many policies and much money have been directed at improving food access in hopes that it will improve food security, yet evidence on the impact of food access has been mixed. In response, we estimate elasticities of food insecurity rates with respect to separate components of food access.
