The Influence of Mast Cell Mediators on Migration of SW756 Cervical Carcinoma Cells

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2008
The role of mast cell mediators on cervical cancer cell migration was assessed using an in vitro assay of scratch wound healing onto monolayers of HPV18-positive cervical carcinoma cells (SW756).

Psilocybin as a novel treatment for chronic pain

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Psychedelic drugs are under active consideration for clinical use and have generated significant interest for their potential as anti‐nociceptive treatments for chronic pain, and for addressing conditions like depression, frequently co‐morbid with pain.

Antidiabetic Properties of the Histamine H3 Receptor Protean Agonist Proxyfan [PDF]

open access: yesEndocrinology, 2011
Proxyfan is a histamine H3 receptor protean agonist that can produce a spectrum of pharmacological effects including agonist, inverse agonist, and antagonist. We have discovered that proxyfan (10 mg/kg orally) significantly improved glucose excursion after an ip glucose tolerance test in either lean or high-fat/cholesterol diet-induced obese mice.

Psychedelics, entactogens and psychoplastogens for depression and related disorders

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Currently, the most actively investigated rapidly acting antidepressants, anxiolytics and/or anti PTSD agents, include psychedelics e.g. psilocybin, LSD, N,N‐dimethyltryptamine, ayahuasca; non‐hallucinogenic entactogens, e.g. MDMA; psychoplastogens which rapidly promote neuroplasticity, e.g.

The role of carcinine in signaling at the Drosophila photoreceptor synapse. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Genetics, 2007
The Drosophila melanogaster photoreceptor cell has long served as a model system for researchers focusing on how animal sensory neurons receive information from their surroundings and translate this information into chemical and electrical messages ...

Histamine inhibits adrenocortical cell proliferation but does not affect steroidogenesis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Histamine (HA) is a neurotransmitter synthesized in most mammalian tissues exclusively by histidine decarboxylase enzyme. Among the plethora of actions mediated by HA, the modulatory effects on steroidogenesis and proliferation in Leydig cells (LCs) have

Non‐canonical PKG1 regulation in cardiovascular health and disease

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
It is well established that the cyclic GMP‐dependent protein kinase I (PKG1) is canonically activated by cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), enabling its regulation of vascular tone, cardiac function and smooth muscle homeostasis. However, diverse non‐canonical stimuli of PKG1 have also been identified.

Basophil activation through TLR2 and TLR4 signaling pathways

open access: yesAIMS Allergy and Immunology, 2018
Basophils are effector cells that respond to protease allergens and parasites, thus contributing to allergic inflammation and Th2 differentiation. However, the molecular interactions through which pathogens promote activation as well as recruitment of ...
