An unusual case of giant cell tumor of soft parts in an American Warmblood horse [PDF]

open access: yesOpen Veterinary Journal, 2019
Fine needle aspiration and tissue biopsy samples were taken from a subcutaneous mass in the cranial stifle region of a 10-year-old horse. Key cytologic features included: numerous mildly to moderately pleomorphic histiocytic cells admixed with ...

Histiocytic Sarcoma Involving Cervical Vertebra: A Case Report and Review of the Literature

open access: yesBrain Sciences, 2022
Histiocytic sarcoma (HS) is a rare neoplasm composed of cells with immunohistochemical characteristics of mature histiocytes. It can be disseminated or localized and usually involves the skin, spleen, and gastrointestinal tract.

Histiocytic Sarcoma in the Brain of a Cat

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Medical Science, 2010
A mass lesion in the subependymal region of the lateral ventricle in a 13-year-old neutered male mongrel cat with a complaint of somnolence, right circling movement and posture abnormality was examined. The magnetic resonance image examination revealed a relatively large T1-hypointense and T2-hyperintense mass lesion in the left interventricular ...

High sensitivity electrochemical DNA sensors for detection of somatic mutations in FFPE samples [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
We offer new high-performance label-free electrochemical impedimetric DNA sensors of non-faradaic type. The DNA sensors based on a platform of crystalline carbon nanotube (CNT) arrays are fabricated by the Langmuir--Blodgett (LB) deposition technique. The CNT arrays are suspended on a nanoporous anodic alumina (aluminium oxide, AOA) support.

Medical Image Segmentation Based on Multi-Modal Convolutional Neural Network: Study on Image Fusion Schemes [PDF]

open access: yes2018 IEEE 15th International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging (ISBI 2018), Washington, DC, 2018, pp. 903-907, 2017
Image analysis using more than one modality (i.e. multi-modal) has been increasingly applied in the field of biomedical imaging. One of the challenges in performing the multimodal analysis is that there exist multiple schemes for fusing the information from different modalities, where such schemes are application-dependent and lack a unified framework ...

Hemophagocytic histiocytic sarcoma in feline [PDF]

open access: yesCiência Rural, 2012
Cytological analysis of the pleural cavity becomes extremely important for the diagnosis of tumors that have no visible or palpable mass. The aim of this study is to report a case of hemophagocytic histiocytic sarcoma in a cat, a rare neoplasm, emphasizing the importance of laboratory tests, especially the analysis of effusions.

Clinicopathologic features and biologic behavior of canine splenic nodules with stromal, histiocytic and lymphoid components

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science, 2022
The term fibrohistiocytic nodule has been discouraged in favor of specific pathologic entities, including complex nodular hyperplasia, splenic stromal sarcoma and histiocytic sarcoma.

The clinical target distribution: a probabilistic alternative to the clinical target volume [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Definition of the clinical target volume (CTV) is one of the weakest links in the radiation therapy chain. In particular, inability to account for uncertainties is a severe limitation in the traditional CTV delineation approach. Here, we introduce and test a new concept for tumor target definition, the clinical target distribution (CTD).

Spontaneous haemoperitoneum secondary to mast cell neoplasia and presumed splenic abscess rupture in a cat

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 2, June 2025.
Abstract A geriatric feline was presented to a university teaching hospital for lethargy and inappetence. The patient was subsequently diagnosed with spontaneous haemoperitoneum secondary to rupture of a splenic mass and was taken to surgery for splenectomy following appropriate stabilisation measures.
