LAMPs and ABH histo‐blood group antigens in granulation tissue

APMIS, 2007
Endothelial cells are major participants in angiogenic processes accompanying wound repair. The functions of ABH histo‐blood group antigens (HBGAs) and lysosome‐associated membrane proteins LAMP‐1 and LAMP‐2 in endothelial cells of granulation tissue are currently unkown. Here we hypothesize that HBGAs and LAMPs enrich the phenotypic characteristics of

The P1 histo‐blood group antigen is present on human red blood cell glycoproteins

Transfusion, 2018
The P1 antigen was first described in 1927 and belongs to the P1PK histo‐blood group system, together with Pk and NOR. The A4GALT‐encoded 4‐α‐galactosyltransferase synthesizes these antigens and has been considered to extend glycolipids exclusively ...

Synthesis of ABO histo-blood group type I and II antigens

Carbohydrate Research, 2009
The ABO histo-blood group antigens have long been of interest to chemists, biochemists, and evolutionary biologists. However, to date, a complete synthesis of all ABO histo-blood group antigens has not been conducted, despite the potential for such a panel to provide a more detailed understanding of the biological roles of these glycan motifs.

Binding activity of norovirus and sapovirus to histo-blood group antigens

Archives of Virology, 2006
Noroviruses (NoVs) and sapoviruses (SaVs) are causative agents of human gastroenteritis. There is increasing evidence that certain human NoV strains bind to histo-blood group antigens (HBGAs). We found that several NoV virus-like particles (VLPs) showed binding activity to HBGAs, while neither SaV genogroup I (GI) VLP nor SaV GV VLP showed such ...

Histo‐blood group antigens in human fetal thymus and in thymomas

APMIS, 1996
The glycosylation of epithelial cell surface antigens follows cellular differentiation, and changes in the pattern of expression are seen in various premalignant and malignant epithelial lesions. The distribution of type‐2 chain ABH‐carbohydrate structures (N‐acetyl‐lactosamine, H‐type 2 chain, Le‐y, Le‐x and sialyl‐Le‐x) of the ABO‐histo‐blood group ...

Molecular Dynamics Studies of Histo-Blood Group Antigen Blocking Human Immunoglobulin A Antibody and Escape Mechanism in Noroviruses Upon Mutation

J. Comput. Biol., 2019
Norovirus is the causing agent of acute gastroenteritis disease globally. Efforts in developing therapeutics against virus infection mostly fail due to emergence of drug resistance that is a consequence of presence of high mutation rates in virus genome ...

Histo-blood group antigens in cancer.

Seminars in cancer biology, 1992
Cell surface carbohydrates undergo dramatic changes in cancer. Changes in histo-blood group antigens result from either blocked synthesis with a precursor accumulation of oligosaccharide chain, or neosynthesis caused by the activation of 'silent' glycosyl transferases.

Histo‐blood group antigens as differentiation markers in testicular germ cell tumours

APMIS, 1991
The distribution of histo‐blood group antigens in a series of eleven human non‐seminomatous testicular germ cell tumours is described and the variable expression of these antigens is related to the patterns of differentiation that are reflected morphologically within these tumours.

Histo-Blood Group Antigen and Human Milk Oligosaccharides

2004
ABH and Lewis antigens are carbohydrates present on gut epithelial cells. These antigens provide diversity within the human population. Their biosynthesis largely is controlled by the enzyme products of alleles at the ABO, FUT2 and FUT3 loci. We have shown that Norwalk virus (NV) uses structures based on H type 1 as its primary receptor.

[Advances in Correlation between Rotaivrus and Histo-blood Group Antigens].

Bing du xue bao = Chinese journal of virology, 2015
Group A rotaviruses (RVs) are major pathogens associated with acute gastroenteritis in young children and animals worldwide. VP4 is responsible for interaction with the host and viral attachment. Recent study showed that the distal portion of rotavirus (RV) VP4 spike protein (VP8*) is implicated in binding to human histo-blood group antigens (HBGAs ...
