Frequency histograms are ubiquitous, being practically used in any field of science. In this paper, we present a partial order for frequency histograms and, to our knowledge, no order of this kind has been yet defined. This order is based on the stochastic order of discrete probability distributions and it has invariance properties that make it unique.

Three-Dimensional Film Image Classification Using an Optimal Width of Histogram
Three-dimensional film images which are recently developed are seen as three-dimensional using the angle, amount, and viewing position of incident light rays. However, if the pixel contrast of the image is low or the patterns are cloudy, it does not look

Summary The histogram is widely used as a simple, exploratory way of displaying data, but it is usually not clear how to choose the number and size of the bins. We construct a confidence set of distribution functions that optimally deal with the two main tasks of the histogram: estimating probabilities and detecting features such as ...

Color histogram specification by histogram warping [PDF]
Histogram warping is a novel histogram specification technique for use in color image processing. As a general purpose tool for color correction, our technique constructs a global color mapping function in order to transform the colors of a source image to match a target color distribution to any desired degree of accuracy.
