A comparison of histological methods for demonstrating calcification
Calcified Tissue Research, 1973Female rats were given45Ca or32P from 13 to 18 days of pegnancy. Serial sections from the heads of their fetuses were studied by autoradiography, as well as by several histological methods for assessing calcification. The earliest detection of45calcium occured at the same time as a positive reaction for calcium with one of the histological methods used.

Quantitative bone histology: A new method
Pathology, 1980A method is described for quantitative histology of undecalcified bone using an embedding medium suitable for histochemistry. Six normal subjects were given tetracycline markers 24 and 3 d prior to the biopsy which was taken from the posterior iliac spine using an 8 gauge Jamshidi needle.

A Method for Histological Examination of Undecalcified Teeth
Biotechnic & Histochemistry, 1992A method is presented for histological examination of undecalcified ground sections of tooth roots affected with periodontal disease. The roots were placed in Karnovsky's fixative overnight, postfixed in 2% buffered osmic acid, and dehydrated in an ascending series of ethanol.

Method for the Correlation of Chemical and Histologic Composition
Journal of Dental Research, 1969Two micro-modifications are described for determination of hydroxyproline. These methods were used on ribbons of 5-μ m histologic sections. Adjacent sections were projected and traced, and tracings were cut and weighed to determine the area of connective tissue. Quantitative chemical concentrations of collagen in histologic sections were determined.

A robust method for alignment of histological images
Computer Methods and Programs in Biomedicine, 2005Determination of reference points is a precondition for reconstruction of serial sections. In the case of comprehensive reconstruction work, manual extraction of the markers may be very time-consuming and may even make such reconstruction impossible. The procedure presented in this contribution allows automatic alignment of histological preparations ...

In this chapter we shall examine the development and application of histological methods at the tissue and system level of neural organisation. The principal techniques — fixation, dyeing, metal impregnation and histochemistry — have already been encountered in Chapter 1, where the emphasis was at the cytological level. The two chapters are intended to

New method for invertebrate nervous histology
