Light- and electronmicroscopic studies of tissue from pathological middle ears revealed in sixteen cases changes typical of tympanosclerosis, i.e. collagenous connective tissue poor in cells, with hyaline degeneration and occasional calcium deposits. in one case new formed cartilaginous tissue was present.
