Histoplasma Capsulatum Epididymitis

Journal of Urology, 1981
We report 2 cases of epididymal histoplasmosis. In 1 patient an epididymal abscess was the sole manifestation of histoplasmosis and in the other an epididymal abscess occurred with paratracheal lymphadenopathy. Although uncommon histoplasmosis can cause symptomatic genitourinary tract disease and must be differentiated from tuberculosis, tumors and ...

Histoplasma capsulatum sinusitis

Journal of Clinical Microbiology, 1997
Sinusitis is commonly reported in patients with AIDS. In addition to the usual bacterial pathogens isolated from immunocompetent patients, sinusitis in patients with AIDS may be caused by a variety of unusual bacteria, viruses, fungi, parasites, and mycobacteria. Histoplasma capsulatum has not typically been associated with sinusitis in either group of

Histoplasma panniculitis.

Archives of dermatology, 1985
We encountered two cases of disseminated histoplasmosis with cutaneous involvement. The clinical and histopathologic findings were those of panniculitis. Primary pulmonary histoplasmosis typically induces a hypersensitivity panniculitis remote from the site of infection.

Histoplasma capsulatum endocarditis

American Heart Journal, 1980
Endocarditis is a rare manifestation of disseminated Histoplasma capsulatum infection. A 22-year-old man presented with a seven month history of fever, weight loss, and progressive aortic insufficiency. The diagnosis of H. capsulatum was suggested by a diagnostic rise in complement fixation titers and positive echocardiographic findings.

Evaluation of a Histoplasma antigen lateral flow assay for the rapid diagnosis of progressive disseminated histoplasmosis in Colombian patients with AIDS

Mycoses (Berlin), 2020
Progressive disseminated histoplasmosis (PDH) is an important cause of mortality in persons living with HIV (PLHIV), especially in countries where patients have limited access to antiretroviral therapies and diagnostic testing.

Cross-reactivity of a Histoplasma capsulatum antigen enzyme immunoassay in urine specimens from persons with emergomycosis in South Africa.

Medical Mycology, 2020
Histoplasma antigen detection in urine is a rapid diagnostic method for disseminated histoplasmosis, although cross-reactivity has been reported in specimens from patients with other thermally dimorphic fungal infections.

Can urinary histoplasma antigen test improve the diagnosis of histoplasmosis in a tuberculosis endemic region?

Mycoses (Berlin), 2019
Many patients with histoplasmosis are treated with anti‐tubercular therapy (ATT) in tuberculosis endemic regions as diagnosis of histoplasmosis requires invasive sampling. We sought to study the utility of urinary Histoplasma antigen detection test.

Histoplasma Panniculitis in Dermatomyositis

JCR: Journal of Clinical Rheumatology, 1997
This report describes the coexistence of infectious panniculitis due to Histoplasma capsulatum in three patients with dermatomyositis. In each case, the appearance of panniculitis was the predominant clinical manifestation of histoplasmosis. Oral ulcers, lymphadenopathy, pulmonary infiltrates, hepatosplenomegaly, and other cardinal features of ...

Large forms of histoplasma

Mycopathologia et Mycologia Applicata, 1958
Various types of large forms ofHistoplasma were studied in experimentally infected hamster and mouse tissues.Histoplasma can be found in the yeast phase in 5 distinct forms: 1. the classicalHistoplasma capsulatum form (ovoid, 2–5 µ in size); 2. occasional “large forms” in necrotic tissue and old cultures (up to 9 µ); 3.

Histoplasma Meningitis

American Journal of Diseases of Children, 1961
Histoplasmosis tends to mimic tuberculosis in most of its manifestations; however, involvement of the central nervous system with Histoplasma capsulatum has been rarely recorded. It has been suggested that it might be more frequently found if autopsies of fatal histoplasmosis cases were done with more attention to examination of the brain. 1-2 Schulz
