Genetic inference of orchid colonization of a Costa Rican lava flow
A 1992 lava flow provides an excellent opportunity to study patterns of colonization and growth of plant populations on a naturally disturbed site. Plants with wind‐dispersed seeds, such as orchids, are often among the earliest colonists after habitat disturbance.
