ABSTRACT This work presents a general framework for deriving the Young–Laplace equation and the Young's equations for an axisymmetric capillary bridge between two parallel plates by minimizing the system's total energy. These Young's equations naturally emerge as boundary conditions associated with the Young–Laplace equation.

Pteris madhusoodananii (Pteridaceae), a new fern species from India
Pteris madhusoodananii sp. nov. (Pteridaceae), from the Kolli hills of Eastern Ghats, India, is described. The new taxon is morphologically distinct, characterized by a unique lamina texture and coloration, specific pinna‐pinnule architecture and distinct spore micromorphology.

Revisions of herbarium collections reveal a new combination in Strophopappus (Asteraceae, Vernonieae, Lepidaploinae). Strophopappus comprises nine species occurring in South America, eight of which are endemic to Brazil. Currently, Vernonia riedeliana is treated as a synonym of Strophopappus bicolor.
