California Temperature Since 1520 CE Shows Interactions in Extremes of Heat, Drought, and Fire

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 5, 16 March 2026.
Abstract Summer maximum temperatures (Tmax ${T}_{\text{max}}$) in the Sierra Nevada have risen rapidly since the turn of the 20th century, especially above 1,500 m where trends in the south exceed 3°C century−1. To place this warming into context, we developed a 504‐year reconstruction of growing‐season (April–September) Tmax ${T}_{\text{max}}$ (1520 ...

Giga‐Voxel Multiscale Composite Architecture Mirrored Through a Data‐to‐Model Closed‐Loop Digital Twin

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 7, 2 February 2026.
Herein, a systematic digital twin workflow tailored for generating high‐fidelity virtual representations of anisotropic composite microstructures and giga‐voxel meso‐structural models is presented, leveraging a harmonious integration of top–down image‐based modeling and bottom–up data‐driven voxel generation.

Notes From the Era of Pre‐Modern Fishing in the Baltic Sea Reveal an Extensive and Resilient Fishing Mode

open access: yesAquaculture, Fish and Fisheries, Volume 6, Issue 1, February 2026.
ABSTRACT In the past half‐century, fishing in one regional part of the Baltic Sea, the Stockholm Archipelago, has almost disappeared due to falling fish abundance, especially of herring (Clupea harengus). By examining published observations and archived material on historical fishing patterns, we found evidence of a remarkably continuous high level of ...

Panax notoginseng Saponins Ameliorate High‐Fat Diet‐Induced Liver Injury via Mechanisms Involving TLR4‐Mediated Signaling and Lipid Metabolism

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 2, February 2026.
Panax notoginseng saponins (PNS) ameliorate high‐fat diet‐induced liver injury by modulating the LPS‐TLR4/MyD88 axis. This leads to the concurrent suppression of NF‐κB and MAPK signaling, which reduces oxidative stress and inflammation while improving lipid metabolism.

Landscape‐Driven Isolation Among, but High Genetic Diversity Within, Peripheral Populations of a Threatened Frog

open access: yesDiversity and Distributions, Volume 32, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim Many amphibians are experiencing declines, which are exacerbated for populations near range edges. To inform conservation strategies, we sampled sites of Blanchard's Cricket Frog (Acris blanchardi) at the northern periphery of their range to determine if modern declines are associated with genetic factors, delineate management units, and ...

Goldilocks: American Precious Metals and the Rise of the West

open access: yesReview of Income and Wealth, Volume 72, Issue 1, February 2026.
ABSTRACT We estimate the contribution of the American precious metal windfall to Western Europe's growth performance in the early modern period. The exogenous nature of American precious metal extraction allows for the identification of monetary effects.

Global Trends in Non‐Technical Skills Research in Dental Education: Bibliometric Review and a Curricular Case Study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Dentistry, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Background Non‐technical (soft) skills such as communication, professionalism, leadership and cultural competence are essential elements of patient‐centred care, yet their integration into dental curricula remains inconsistent. To our knowledge, no bibliometric study has systematically mapped these global trends, leaving gaps in understanding and ...

Biodiversity of Mosquitoes (Diptera: Culicidae) in High‐Risk Areas of Mosquito‐Borne Diseases in Southeastern Iran

open access: yesJournal of Tropical Medicine, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Background Bam County, owing its geographical location, is one of the high‐risk areas of mosquito‐borne diseases due to its ecological, socioeconomic, and topographic characteristics, but it seems that no study has been done on the species composition and biodiversity of mosquitoes in this area, so the present study aimed at determining mosquito ...
