The Idaho Virtualization Laboratory 3D Pipeline

open access: yesVirtual Archaeology Review, 2014
Three dimensional (3D) virtualization and visualization is an important component of industry, art, museum curation and cultural heritage, yet the step by step process of 3D virtualization has been little discussed.

Single cis‐elements in brassinosteroid‐induced upregulated genes are insufficient to recruit both redox states of the BIL1/BZR1 DNA‐binding domain

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phytohormone brassinosteroid‐induced gene regulation by the transcription factor BIL1/BZR1 involves redox‐dependent DNA‐binding alternation and interaction with the transcription factor PIF4. The reduced BIL1/BZR1 dimer binds preferred cis‐elements, while oxidation alters its oligomerization state and disrupts DNA‐binding ability.

EPISCOPUL VALERIAN ZAHARIA: ÎNTRE SFÂNTUL SINOD ȘI PUTEREA COMUNISTĂ

open access: yesAnalele Universităţii "Dunărea de Jos" din Galaţi. Fascicula XIX, Istorie
Valerian Zaharia was bishop of Oradea from 1951 to 1969. Little has been written about his life and work. This is motivated by his controversial past, characterized by close collaboration with the communist regime.

Structural dynamics of the plant hormone receptor ETR1 in a native‐like membrane environment

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The present study unveils the structural and signaling dynamics of ETR1, a key plant ethylene receptor. Using an optimized nanodisc system and solution NMR, we captured full‐length ETR1 in a native‐like membrane environment. Our findings reveal dynamic domain uncoupling and Cu(I)‐induced rigidification, providing the first evidence of metal‐triggered ...

Age and body size of Rana amurensis from northeastern China

open access: yesCurrent Zoology, 2011
Age and body size are two important demographic traits that determine the life history strategies of populations and species. We measured these two parameters of Rana amurensis, at a 900 m and a 500 m altitude site in northeastern China. At the two sites,

A working model for cytoplasmic assembly of H/ACA snoRNPs

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Dyskerin is the component of nuclear H/ACA ribonucleoproteins (RNPs) endowed with pseudouridine synthase catalytic activity. Two isoforms of human dyskerin have been characterized: the abundant Iso1, mainly nuclear, and the shorter Iso3, mainly cytoplasmic but occasionally imported into nuclei.

C9orf72 ALS‐causing mutations lead to mislocalization and aggregation of nucleoporin Nup107 into stress granules

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mutations in the C9orf72 gene represent the most common genetic cause of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a fatal neurodegenerative disease. Using patient‐derived neurons and C. elegans models, we find that the nucleoporin Nup107 is dysregulated in C9orf72‐associated ALS. Conversely, reducing Nup107 levels mitigates disease‐related changes.

Ruling the Commons. Introducing a new methodology for the analysis of historical commons

open access: yesInternational Journal of the Commons, 2016
Despite significant progress in recent years, the evolution of commons over the long run remains an under-explored area within commons studies. During the last years an international team of historians have worked under the umbrella of the 'Common Rules '

History of History of Physics

open access: yesActa Baltica Historiae et Philosophiae Scientiarum, 2016
The twelve decades of modern academic history of physics have provided enough material for the study of the history of history of physics, the focus of which is the development of the opinions and methods of historians of physics. The achievements of historians of physics are compared with the achievements of their objects of research, the physicists ...
