Spenser and the Historical Revolution: Briton Moniments and the Problem of Roman Britain [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Curran argues that, since Roman Britain is a key to understanding the historiographical debates of Edmund Spenser\u27s time, the Roman Britain section of Briton Moniments in The Faerie Queene needs to be examined.

Modular, Textile‐Based Soft Robotic Grippers for Agricultural Produce Handling

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This article introduces textile‐based pneumatic grippers that transform simple textiles into robust bending actuators. Detailed experiments uncover how cut geometry and fabric selection shape performance. Successful handling of fragile agricultural items showcases the potential of textile robotics for safe, scalable automation in food processing and ...

Textile Actuation Based on In‐Air Actuating Polypyrrole‐Based Tape Yarns for Wearable Soft Robotics: Toward On‐Body Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This work reports on the actuation behavior of CP‐based polypyrrole/PVdF TYs soaked in electrolyte/ionic liquids and woven actuators where such TYs are integrated. These studies are important toward the creation of on‐body applications such as wearable soft robotics, where textiles offer many advantages such as increased force, integrated electrical ...

Modulating Integrin and Growth Factor Signaling With Peptides: Strategies to Synergistically Enhance Bone Tissue Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
It has been demonstrated that, in the bone extracellular matrix (ECM), integrins and growth factor receptors (GFRs) engage in synergistic signaling to guide bone healing and regeneration. This review provides a comprehensive overview of current strategies using ECM‐derived peptides to recreate the cellular microenvironment and harness synergistic ...

‘I am the Prophet of the Light, Dumb When the Sun is Dark’: Solar Agency, Temporality and Early Photochemical Images

open access: yesCahiers Victoriens et Edouardiens
In his essay ‘On a Sun-Dial’, published in the New Monthly Magazine in October 1827, William Hazlitt announces the ancient ‘mode of counting time’ as ‘perhaps the most apposite and striking, if not the most convenient or comprehensive’. Hazlitt prefers a

Metabolic Regulation of Dimethylsulfoniopropionate Cleavage and Dimethyl Sulfide Production in Halomonas sp. D47

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Dimethylsulfoniopropionate (DMSP) is a major marine organosulfur compound central to climate‐relevant dimethyl sulfide (DMS) production. In Halomonas sp. D47, DMSP catabolism is revealed to be coordinated by two transcriptional regulators, AcuR and AcuZ, which control gene expression by sensing DMSP and its metabolites.

cDC1 Subtype‐Specific In Vivo Targeting of Liposomes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Dendritic cells, particularly the cDC1 subtype, offer a promising target for drug delivery via liposomes due to their pivotal role in immune regulation, allowing for amplified therapeutic responses. Herein, we show an integration of physicochemical characterization and cell experiments to achieve effective in vivo cDC1 targeting through anti‐CLEC9A ...
