Very Massive Galaxies: A Challenge for Hierarchical Models? [PDF]
Hierarchical models of galaxy formation now provide a much closer match to observations than they did a few years ago. The progress has been achieved by adjusting the description of baryonic processes such as star formation and supernova/AGN feedback, while leaving the evolution of the underlying dark matter (DM) halos the same. Being most results very

Bayesian large-scale structure inference: initial conditions and the cosmic web [PDF]
We describe an innovative statistical approach for the ab initio simultaneous analysis of the formation history and morphology of the large-scale structure of the inhomogeneous Universe. Our algorithm explores the joint posterior distribution of the many millions of parameters involved via efficient Hamiltonian Markov Chain Monte Carlo sampling.
