Threshold Regression for Survival Analysis: Modeling Event Times by a Stochastic Process Reaching a Boundary

open access: yes, 2007
Many researchers have investigated first hitting times as models for survival data. First hitting times arise naturally in many types of stochastic processes, ranging from Wiener processes to Markov chains.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Local approximation of Markov chains in time and space

open access: yesJournal of Biological Dynamics, 2019
In epidemic modelling, the emergence of a disease is characterized by the low numbers of infectious individuals. Environmental randomness impacts outcomes such as the outbreak or extinction of the disease in this case.

Hitting and returning into rare events for all alpha-mixing processes

open access: yes, 2010
We prove that for any $\alpha$-mixing stationnary process the hitting time of any $n$-string $A_n$ converges, when suitably normalized, to an exponential law. We identify the normalization constant $\lambda(A_n)$.

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Artificial Intelligence-Based Real-Time Pineapple Quality Classification Using Acoustic Spectroscopy

open access: yesAgriculture, 2022
The pineapple is an essential fruit in Taiwan. Farmers separate pineapples into two types, according to the percentages of water in the pineapples. One is the “drum sound pineapple” and the other is the “meat sound pineapple”.

Query suggestion using hitting time [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 17th ACM conference on Information and knowledge management, 2008
Generating alternative queries, also known as query suggestion, has long been proved useful to help a user explore and express his information need. In many scenarios, such suggestions can be generated from a large scale graph of queries and other accessory information, such as the clickthrough. However, how to generate suggestions while ensuring their

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

On the distribution of a rotationally invariant α-stable process at the hitting time of a given hyperplane

open access: yesДоповiдi Нацiональної академiї наук України
We find out an explicit formula for the distribution of a rotationally invariant α-stable process at that moment of time, when it hits a given hyperplane for the first time.
