2017M.Ö. 1200 yıllarında Hitit Devleti’nin yıkılışından sonra Anadolu’da ve Kuzey Suriye’de birbirinden bağımsız kent devletlerinin oluşturduğu yeni bir siyasal yapılanma görülür. Zaman içerisinde kendi kültürel ve ekonomik yapısını oluşturan bu kent devletlerinin Hititlerin devamı olduğu kabul edilir.
