Technique for the Rapid Determination of HLB and Required-HLB Values

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1961
A method is presented for the determination of HLB values and required-HLB values. It involves a simple and rapid procedure which can be carried out in about one hour.

The influence of HLB on the encapsulation of oils by complex coacervation

Journal of Microencapsulation, 1998
Microcapsules are used for the formulation of drug controlled release and drug targeting dosage forms. Encapsulated hydrophobic drugs are often applied as their solutions in plant oils. The uptake of the oils in the complex coacervate microcapsules can be improved by the addition of surfactants. In this study, soybean, olive and peanut oils were chosen

Emulsionstechnologie und „HLB”︁‐Wert

Fette, Seifen, Anstrichmittel, 1967

The HLB number determination of polyoxyethylene surfactants

Collection of Czechoslovak Chemical Communications, 1989
The Hydrophile-Lipophile-Balance (HLB) numbers were evaluated on the basis of three different, commonly used methods of determination and calculation, in a series of lauric, resp. stearic acids and lauryl alcohol oxyethylenation products prepared by an alkali-catalyzed reaction in a similar scale of hydrophobe: ethylene oxide molar ratios.
