Interplay Between Infectious Diseases and the Endocrine System: An Overview and Clinical Insights

open access: yesEndocrinology, Diabetes &Metabolism, Volume 9, Issue 4, July 2026.
Infectious diseases can disrupt endocrine homeostasis through direct cytopathic injury, autoimmune dysregulation, or pathogen‐derived hormone‐like effects. Viruses and bacteria are the most frequent agents, whereas fungi and parasites contribute less commonly, even remaining clinically relevant, especially in the immunocompromised population.

Women, Space, Resistance: Kurdish Refugee‐Migrants' Narratives From Lavrio and Skaramagas Camps in Greece

open access: yesPopulation, Space and Place, Volume 32, Issue 5, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Refugee camps have long been theorized as spaces of exception, where sovereign power reduces displaced people to what Agamben terms ‘bare life’. While this frame captures the violence of camp governance, it depicts refugee‐migrants as passive and says little about how camp space is inhabited, contested and remade in everyday life, least of all

Physicochemical Evaluation of Pretreated Fermented Pea Carbohydrate‐Rich Fraction (PCRF) for Beverage Development

open access: yesStarch - Stärke, Volume 78, Issue 7, July 2026.
Microwave and ultra‐sonication pretreatments influenced pH and color of fermented carbohydrate rich fractions of pea (PCRF). Optimal formulation (7.5% PCRF) reached pH 3.96 and best appearance after 12 h. pH decreased mainly within 12 h; microwave samples showed highest brightness early but darkened most by 36 h, with significant hue and browning ...

A Practical Framework for GT‐Seq Panel Optimization

open access: yesMolecular Ecology Resources, Volume 26, Issue 5, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Genotyping‐in‐thousands by sequencing (GT‐seq) panels are powerful tools in ecological, evolutionary and conservation genomics, yet the optimization process critical for robust and reproducible genotyping remains poorly formalized. Here, we present an iterative workflow for GT‐seq panel optimization that emphasizes systematic refinement ...

Vegetative Propagation Preserves Genomic Diversity and Informs Translocation Strategies in a Rare Clonal Plant

open access: yesEvolutionary Applications, Volume 19, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Conservation translocations are widely used to increase population size and redundancy, yet their genetic consequences are often uncertain, particularly for clonal species with unknown rates of sexual reproduction. Propagation through asexual reproduction is frequently employed in these systems, but its effectiveness for preserving genomic ...

Greenhouse Gas Reduction Potential Through Bioheat for Remote Communities in Northeastern Ontario

open access: yesGCB Bioenergy, Volume 18, Issue 7, July 2026.
Heating infrastructure in remote areas has high potential for fuel switching, possibly leading to decreased greenhouse gas emissions. Using a simplified life cycle analysis approach, we show that woody residues from the forest industry have the potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions compared to commonly used fossil fuels.

Spatio‐Temporal Patterns in Relative Abundance and Distribution of Southern Right Whales in Southwestern Australia, 2021–2024

open access: yesMarine Mammal Science, Volume 42, Issue 3, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Southern right whales (Eubalaena australis) are listed as Endangered in Australia due to past commercial exploitation. Currently, they are experiencing contemporary declines in population growth rates. Knowledge of critical periods and habitats in whale occupancy and reproduction is crucial for conservation efforts.
