Research on Machining Face Gears Using a CNC Hobbing Machine
Advanced Materials Research, 2010This paper introduces the generation of face-gear by a worm and the coordinates system. A scheme for cutting face gears using a CNC hobbing machine is described in detail. The determination method for the machine parameters is given. An experiment is done for validating the method.

Research on Thermal Error Modeling of YK3610 Hobbing Machine
Advanced Materials Research, 2012Thermal error modeling. Neural network. Gear hobbing machine. Error compensation. Abstract. Four key thermal sources of YK3610 hobbing machine were selected in this paper, and a thermal error model based on the four temperature variables was proposed by using back propagation neural network.

A method for thermal characteristics modelling of hob assembly on dry hobbing machine
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part C: Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science, 2018Gear hobbing is the use of machinery to manufacture external gears. With the booming motor industry, there are more requirements for gear hobbing accuracy than ever before. Thermal error – as a major source of error in a dry hobbing machine – must be effectively compensated to achieve accuracy.

Hobbing as finishing machining of the hard teeth
Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 1997Abstract The investigation of employing hobbing as a finishing machining method for the hard teeth (about 60 HRC) has been carried out in the Silesian Technical University for more than a dozen years. The paper discusses the results of the investigations on the influence of the geometry of the cutting tools and the cutting parameters on the tool wear

A new electronic gearbox for gear hobbing machines
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part B: Journal of Engineering Manufacture, 2015This article presents a new kind of software-defined electronic gearbox for gear hobbing based on a theoretical model of the hobbing process. The electronic gearbox implementation and structure are studied in an embedded numerical control system (numerical control/computer numerical control).

On the Accuracy of Gear-Hobbing-Machine Tables
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, 1949This paper deals with experiences on two gear-hobbing machines originally fitted with creep work tables. The flanks of the teeth cut on these machines were so irregular that it was decided to abandon the creep mechanism. A non-creep table was purchased.
