On the Holder Continuity of Quasi Conformal and Elliptic Mappings [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of the American Mathematical Society, 1958
If K 1. Geometrically, (1) implies that the mapping z->w(z) is sense-preserving, and that infinitesimal circles map onto infinitesimal ellipses for which the ratio of minor to major axis is >K-(K 2-1)1/2. The quantity ,u = K (K2 1)1/2, is thus the greatest lower bound of the "local eccentricity" of all mappings satisfying (1).

Continuous sharpening of Holder's and Minkowski's inequalities

Mathematical inequalities & applications, 2005
Some properties of functions which in special cases lead to sharpening of Holder's and other interesting inequalities are proved. Results analogue to theorems leading to reverse Holder's inequality are presented.

Detecting Structural Damage Using Holder Continuity and Chaotic Forcing

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2004
We describe an experiment using a chaotically driven metal plate with incremental damage. Damage in the plate is manifested as a local change in the plate’s response (loss of stiffness). We develop a statistical test for Holder continuity and demonstrate its use by examining the map between responses of the undamaged plate and responses of the damaged ...

Holder continuous Siegel disc boundary curves

Nonlinearity, 1995
Summary: We prove, with the assistance of rigorous computer calculations, that Widom's renormalization fixed point, and any pair in its domain of attraction, has a Hölder continuous invariant curve through the origin. We deduce that any complex analytic map attracted by Widom's fixed point has a Siegel disc bounded by a Hölder continuous Jordan curve ...

Little-Hölder continuous functions and elliptic systems

ANNALI DELL UNIVERSITA DI FERRARA, 1986
Let \(\Omega\) be a bounded open subset of \({\mathbb{R}}^ n\), \(n\geq 1\). A vector valued function \(f: {\bar \Omega}\to {\mathbb{R}}^ k\), \(k\geq 1\), is said to be little-Hölder continuous with exponent \(\sigma\) if \[ (1)\quad \lim_{R\to 0^+}\sup_{x,y\in {\bar \Omega ...

Compression of Strain Load History Using Holder Exponents of Continuous Wavelet Transform

2018
This paper presents the compression of strain loading time history of automobile suspension spring by extracting singularities in the signal using Lipschitz regularity analysis. Time histories of suspension spring always contained redundant data that increase the size of the signal and are insignificant to durability analysis.
