“Hollow cathode” gun optics

open access: yesReview of Scientific Instruments, 1997
The generation of an electron beam by a hollow cathode gun in a cusp magnetic field is discussed. Such a gun is proposed for an electron cooling device without toroids. In a section with a homogeneous magnetic field, this beam experiences a disturbance region near the axis where the electron temperature becomes higher.

Promoting polysulfides redox conversion by sulfur-deficient ZnS1−x hollow polyhedrons for lithium-sulfur batteries

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2021
Lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries are deemed as the attractive systems for high-energy storage. However, the polysulfides shuttling with slow redox kinetics has seriously hindered their practical applications. Herein, sulfur-deficient zinc sulfide (ZnS1−x)

Remotely induced high-density hollow-anode plasma and its application to fast deposition of photosensitive microcrystalline silicon thin film with preferential <110> orientation

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2019
We investigated the application of a less hydrogen-dilute and low gas pressure hollow-anode plasma to fast chemical-vapor deposition of photosensitive hydrogenated microcrystalline silicon (μc-Si:H).

Thermal Analysis and Testing of Different Designs of LaB6 Hollow Cathodes to Be Used in Electric Propulsion Applications

open access: yesAerospace, 2021
LaB6 emitters are commonly used in hollow cathodes that are utilized in electric space propulsion systems. In order to obtain necessary surface current emission densities of 1–10 A/cm2 for cathode operations, LaB6 emitters require temperatures above 1500

Vacancy-Driven Ni Exsolution in Prussian Blue Analogues Creates Cooperative Defect-Metal Sites for Alkaline Hydrogen Evolution. [PDF]

open access: yesAdv Sci (Weinh)
Multimetal Prussian blue analogues (PBAs) are converted by low‐temperature Ar annealing into a cavity/CN‐vacancy architecture that triggers in situ Ni exsolution, creating dense Ni‐PBA interfacial motifs. These motifs optimize water dissociation and H* adsorption in alkaline media, delivering markedly accelerated HER kinetics and long‐term stability ...

Precursor-template Strategy toward Hollow Nanostructured Li(Ni1/3Co1/3Mn1/3)O2 Microspheres Cathode with Enhanced Electrochemical Performance

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2018
The hollow nanostructured Li(Ni1/3Co1/3Mn1/3)O2 (NCM) microspheres with low Li/Ni disorder were fabricated by precursor-template approach and investigated electrochemically as lithium ion batteries (LIBs) cathode. The as-obtained NCM microspheres cathode

Protective amorphous carbon coatings on glass substrates

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2017
Thick amorphous carbon films were deposited by the Magnets-in-Motion (M-M) rf linear hollow cathode at varying acetylene contents in Ar in a hybrid PVD/PE-CVD process directly on glass substrates. The hollow cathode plates manufactured from graphite were
