Behaviour of concrete-filled hollow structural steel (HSS) columns with pre-load on the steel tubes
Journal of Constructional Steel Research, 2003Abstract The use of hollow structural steel (HSS) columns filled with concrete has become widespread in the past few decades. However, these members are susceptible to the effects of pre-load on the steel tubes during construction. Nineteen concrete-filled HSS columns with the steel tubes subjected to pre-load have been tested.

Bond-slip behaviour of concrete-filled stainless steel circular hollow section tubes
Journal of Constructional Steel Research, 2017Abstract This paper presents the repeated push-out tests on concrete-filled stainless steel circular hollow section (CHS) tubes with different values of height-to-diameter ratio, diameter-to-thickness ratio and concrete strengths. The bond-slip behaviour of all specimens and the strain distribution on the exterior of stainless steel tubes along the ...

Transverse impact resistance of hollow and concrete filled stainless steel columns
Concrete-filled stainless steel tubes can be considered as a new type of composite construction technique. The characteristics of stainless steel are quite different from those of mild steel in terms of strength, ductility, corrosion resistance and ...

Analysis of Axial Bearing Capacity of Concrete-Filled Steel Tube Hollow Columns
Advanced Materials Research, 2013Based on the triple shear unified yield criterion, the mechanical behavior of the concrete-filled steel tube columns was analyzed. The calculation formulas of axial bearing capacity of the concrete-filled steel tube columns were deduced with considerations of the restriction effects of steel tube and the effects of the intermediate principal stressed ...
