A New Slurry-Based Method of Preparation of Hollow Cylinder Specimens of Clean and Silty Sands
Geotechnical Testing Journal, 2013Abstract Given that hollow cylinder testing of undisturbed sand samples is virtually impossible to carry out, a new slurry deposition method is described in this study that allows reconstitution of uniform, saturated hollow cylinder specimens of clean and silty sands deposited under water.

Triaxial Extension Tests on Hollow Cylinder Sand Specimens
Canadian Geotechnical Journal, 1971Triaxial extension tests were carried out on hollow cylinder sand specimens of identical external geometry under identical test boundary conditions. For reference, solid cylinder sand specimens were tested under identical boundary conditions. The radial width of the hollow cylinders was varied and the test parameters of specimen strength and ...

Abstract To investigate the effect of the thickness of a hollow cylinder on the stress distributions in a torsional triaxial shear test of clay, an equation for calculating the circumferential shear stress on a cross section of the cyclider is derived based on a linear elastic constitutive model and elastic mechanics.

Abstract Quasi-elastic deformation properties of dry, dense Toyoura sand were experimentally investigated by triaxial and torsional shear tests on hollow cylindrical specimens of medium sizes (outer diameter Do=20 cm, inner diameter Di=16 or, 12 cm, and height H=30 cm) and small size (Do=10, Di=6, H=20 cm).

Abstract Functions have been derived for a linear-elastic fracture mechanics specimen of an arc-shape, which because of this shape, can be removed relatively easily from pipes or cylindrical components. These specimens can be used for determining crack resistance curves using the J-integral so that, even for thinner components, it is ...

International Journal of Fatigue, 2016
Abstract This paper studies a multiaxial fatigue crack mode and a fatigue life of Ti–6Al–4V. Load controlled fatigue tests at room temperature were carried out using a hollow cylinder specimen under multiaxial loading with principal stress ratio λ equal to 0, 0.4, 0.5 and 1.0 and loading ratio R kept constant and equal to 0. λ is defined as λ = σ2/σ1,
