Self‐Organized Vascularized Human Liver Spheroids: Serum‐Free Culture Conditions and Use as Tissue Building Blocks

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
This approach addresses a major challenge in tissue engineering: creating larger, vascularized tissues. Microvascular networks in liver spheroids are developed through self‐organization mediated by mesenchymal stem cells. These spheroids are maintained in serum‐reduced or serum‐free medium and serve as building blocks to form planar tissue layers ...

Direct Measurement of Protein Corona Thickness on Nanomaterials Using Dual‐Color Stochastic Optical Reconstruction Microscopy (STORM)

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
Quantitative dual‐color STORM imaging provides direct nanoscale measurement of protein coronas on nanoparticles in biological media. The approach reveals consistent ∼50 nm corona layers, establishing a reproducible method for characterizing the nanomaterial‐protein interfaces.

Study on the macro–micro evolution of compaction characteristics of coal gangue with different grain sizes under side-limit compression conditions

open access: yesScientific Reports
Currently the main method of mine solid waste disposal and utilization is to apply gangue to underground filling. For the grading characteristics of coal gangue in the hollow zone in underground filling, the state of pressure and the mechanical ...

Fatigue Strength in Additive Toolmaking: A Study of Metal Binder Jetting and Electron Beam Melting for Processing Carbide‐Rich Cold‐Work Tool Steels

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Focusing on the critical tap hole region of the blast furnace, this work examines binder characteristics, prepares tap hole clay with different formulations, and evaluates their physical properties. The findings confirm the advantages of composite binders and offer a new binder option for tap hole clay.

Toward the Application of Multiaxial Failure Criteria: Mean Stress Sensitivity of Carbide‐Rich, High‐Alloy PM‐HIP Tool Steels Under Axial and Torsional Cyclic Loading

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
This study quantifies axial and torsional long‐life fatigue (LLF) behavior of three carbide‐rich PM‐HIP tool steels, correlating LLF strength with intrinsic defect size and cleanliness, thereby extracting material‐specific mean stress sensitivities and Haigh diagrams.

Flexural performance of concrete‐filled steel tubular beams with wood chip aggregate

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract This study investigates the flexural performance of concrete‐filled steel tubular (CFST) beams with partial replacement of aggregates by wood chips (0%–25%) through experimental and numerical analysis. This study is novel in that it experimentally and numerically investigates the flexural behavior of CFST beams with partial replacement of ...

Buckling of slender composite concrete‐filled steel columns

open access: yesJournal of Civil Engineering and Management, 2010
The paper presents the analysis of the experimental data of 1817 on concrete‐filled steel tubes ‐ CFSTs. These results are compared with the predicted results of the load‐bearing capacity of calculations of slender elements according to the methods ...

Deformation and strength of grouted sleeve connectors in pre‐fabricated concrete structures: Mechanisms and analytical modeling

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract Grouted sleeve connectors (GSCs) are widely used in precast/prefabricated concrete structures. To ensure force transfer, connectors are often overdesigned in length. This practice has an unintended consequence of reducing the plastic deformation capacity of the connection region and hence the displacement ductility of the precast structure as ...

Near-wellbore laboratory simulation system to evaluate chemical sand consolidation with Epoxy/g-C3N4-NS nanofluid: an experimental and simulation study

open access: yesJournal of Petroleum Exploration and Production Technology
In loose sandstone reservoirs, sand enters the wellbore along with the production fluid. Sand production causes numerous problems, such as the erosion of downhole, wellhead, and surface equipment, ultimately leading to a decline in production.
