Structures of a hollow filamentary conical helix
Acta Crystallographica Section A Foundations of Crystallography, 2003A hollow conical helix (HCH) of graphitic materials broadens the conical configuration by introduction of wrapping about 120 degrees symmetry positions in addition to the traditional rotation about 60 degrees symmetry sites. Complete structural models are established for a HCH and examined taking into account the rotation mode, coincidence site lattice

Ultralight Fractal Structures from Hollow Tubes
Physical Review Letters, 2012A fractal design is shown to be highly efficient both as a load bearing structure and as a general metamaterial. Through changing the hierarchical order of the structure, the scaling of material required for stability against loading can be manipulated.

Commented Literature for Hollow Spheres and Hollow Sphere Structures
2009This section collects major references for hollow spheres (HS) and hollow sphere structures (HSS). In addition to journal references and patents related to HS and HSS, a bit more general reference books and conference proceedings related to cellular materials in general are given which allow a first introduction to the topic.

Production of hollow spheres (HS) and hollow sphere structures (HSS)
Materials Letters, 2009In our paper we focus on component materials, production and prospective applications of metallic hollow spheres. We give an insight into technology, production, and the hollow spheres' diversity. It is our aim to provide an overview of the technology and enable the reader to evaluate whether the hollow spheres technology meets their specific needs.

Hollow structures in radiolarian skeletons
Paleontological Journal, 2013Spines are the major element of radiolarian skeletons; they are usually solid or, rarely, hollow. Subcylindrical hollow spines and other hollow structures of radiolarian skeletons appeared in the Middle Cambrian. Later, hollow skeletal structures repeatedly developed in the evolution of all radiolarian classes of the subphylum Polycystina throughout ...

Hollow structured cathode materials for rechargeable batteries
Science Bulletin, 2020Hollow structuring has been intensively studied as an effective strategy to improve the electrochemical performance of the electrode materials for rechargeable batteries in terms of specific capacity, rate capability, and cycling performance. To date, hollow structured anode materials have been extensively investigated, while hollow structured cathode ...

Structure of hollow polystyrene microspheres: An SEM study
Journal of Microencapsulation, 1989Hollow polystyrene microspheres have been prepared by a modified interfacial polymer deposition technique. The hollow microspheres were characterized using scanning electron microscopy. The effects of polymer concentration and the quantity of the internal phase material (methanol) used on the microsphere size and their wall thickness were studied ...

Cross section-based hollowing and structural enhancement
The Visual Computer, 2017Recently, 3D printing has become a powerful tool for personal fabrication. However, the price of some materials is still high which limits its applications in home users. To optimize the volume of the model, while not largely affecting the strength of the objects, researchers propose algorithms to divide the model with different kinds of lightweight ...
