Hollywood and ECT

Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) has featured in Hollywood films for sixty years. Film depictions continue to exert a powerful and predominantly negative effect on public attitudes towards the treatment. From review of the 22 currently available films that directly refer to ECT the main themes identified are described.

An epic journey of letters across the country creates a copy of the Hollywood sign in Los Angeles. The spot was created to launch Orange's VOD service through its web site and cellular phones. Letters and other elements were created in 3D. The background was created in matte paintings on plates shot in South Africa.
