Erbium And Holmium Lasers Pumped With Nd:YAG

LEOS '90. Conference Proceedings IEEE Lasers and Electro-Optics Society 1990 Annual Meeting, 1990
Diode-pumped neodymium lasers can be used to efficiently pump other rare earth lasers. Intracavity pumping of the ytterbium-sensitized erbium phosphate glass laser gave 6% conversion of 800 nm laser diode arrays to 1.54 μm. Techniques used for pumping 2.9-μm Ho:GGG lasers are also discussed.

TRANSURETHRAL HOLMIUM LASER RESECTION OF THE PROSTATE

Journal of Urology, 2000
We evaluated the efficacy of the holmium:YAG laser for transurethral endoscopic prostatectomy for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).We treated 103 patients with BPH with holmium:YAG laser resection of the prostate. A high power holmium laser generating a maximum of 60 or 81 W. was used in a pulsed mode, applying energy directly to prostatic tissue via

EXPERIENCE WITH THE HOLMIUM LASER AS AN ENDOSCOPIC LITHOTRITE

Australian and New Zealand Journal of Surgery, 2000
Introduction: Holmium laser lithotripsy represents an additional option in the management of urinary tract calculi. We report the results of a cohort of patients with ureteric and bladder calculi treated with this modality. Methods: Twenty‐three patients underwent holmium laser lithotripsy to treat ureteric or bladder calculi.

Early Results of Transmyocardial Revascularization With a Holmium Laser

The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 1998
Transmyocardial laser revascularization (TMLR), a surgical technique designed to improve perfusion in the ischemic myocardium by creating transmural channels, has been performed thus far using a carbon dioxide laser, with apparently gratifying early results.

Laser optogalvanic spectroscopy of holmium

Journal of the Optical Society of America B, 1992
The optogalvanic spectrum of the neutral holmium atom (Ho i) is investigated with both broadband and single-frequency cw dye lasers and a hollow-cathode lamp. Many new Ho i transitions are observed, and their possible classifications are reported. The hyperfine structure of 165Ho (I = 7/2) is recorded in a number of spectral lines, and the data are ...

Holmium laser for management of ureterocele calculi

Lasers in Surgery and Medicine, 2002
AbstractBackground and ObjectivesAlthough most ureteral calculi will pass spontaneously, those in a ureterocele will usually not pass beyond the stenotic orifice. We address both the stone and the underlying anatomic abnormality of a ureterocele using the holmium:YAG laser.Study Design/Materials and MethodsWe report the first use of the holmium laser ...

Laser prostatectomy with the holmium: YAG laser.

Techniques in urology, 1997
Laser prostatectomy has generated considerable interest amongst urologists as an alternative to traditional transurethral resection for the treatment of benign prostatic hypertrophy. The majority of reports available concerning laser prostatectomy have described use of the neodymium: YAG wavelength delivered via contact or non contact fibers. Recently,

Holmium: YAG laser safety

ILSC '92: Proceedings of the International Laser Safety Conference, 1992
The Holmium laser produces an invisible 2100nm infrared that is transmitted via a 400 micron fiber and rigid handpiece. This technology has been used on over 400 orthopedic surgeries in the last two years at St. Peter Hospital. Safety policies and procedures based on ANSI Z136.3, OSHA, and AORN guidelines have been developed for use of the Holmium ...

Holmium laser?induced coronary thrombolysis

Journal of Thrombosis and Thrombolysis, 1996
Plaque disruption and thrombosis are determinants for the onset of acute ischemic syndromes. The presence of intracoronary thrombus is associated with an increased risk of complications during revascularization with balloon angioplasty. Thrombi avidly absorb light in the mid-infrared optical spectrum due to their high water content.

Effectiveness of holmium laser-assisted coronary angioplasty. The Holmium Laser Coronary Registry.

The American journal of cardiology, 1994
The efficacy of holmium laser-assisted angioplasty was studied in 365 narrowings in 331 consecutive patients with coronary artery disease. Clinical indications for study were unstable angina pectoris in 140 patients (42%), stable angina in 136 patients (41%), postmyocardial infarction angina in 35 patients (10.5%), silent myocardial ischemia in 11 ...
