Anisotropic Transparency of Alkali‐Treated Wood
This study elucidates the mechanism by which alkali treatment enhances the transparency of delignified wood, with a focus on the cellulose microfibril skeleton. Following delignification, the resulting material remains translucent due to light scattering

Genomics Review of Holocellulose Deconstruction by Aspergilli [PDF]
SUMMARY Biomass is constructed of dense recalcitrant polymeric materials: proteins, lignin, and holocellulose, a fraction constituting fibrous cellulose wrapped in hemicellulose-pectin. Bacteria and fungi are abundant in soil and forest floors, actively recycling biomass mainly by extracting sugars from holocellulose degradation.

Effect of Four Novel Bio-Based DES (Deep Eutectic Solvents) on Hardwood Fractionation
Using the basic principle of construction between a hydrogen bond acceptor (HBA) and a hydrogen bond donor (HBD), four bio-based deep eutectic solvents (DESs) were prepared in a 1:2 molar ratio of HBA:HBD. 2,3-Dihydroxypropyl-1-triethylammonium chloride (

Beech wood treated with polyglycerol succinate: a new effective method for its protection and stabilization [PDF]
This paper deals with an original and non-biocidal chemical treatment consisting of a vacuum/pressure impregnation step of beech wood with a water-borne mixture made from heat-activated condensation of succinic anhydride (SA) and glycerol (G).

Seasonal change in the daily timing of behaviour of the common vole, Microtus arvalis [PDF]
1. Seasonal effects on daily activity patterns in the common vole were established by periodic trapping in the field and continuous year round recording of running wheel and freeding activity in cages exposed to natural meteorological conditions.
