An Open‐Source Pipeline for Calcium Imaging and All‐Optical Physiology in Human Stem Cell‐Derived Neurons

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 26, 8 May 2026.
This work introduces an open‐source all‐optical platform for functional phenotyping of human stem cell‐derived neurons. The system integrates optogenetics, calcium imaging, automated acquisition, and analysis to resolve single‐cell and network activity, enabling longitudinal measurements, disease modeling, and pharmacological screening in preclinical ...

Direct Photocurrent Detection of Optical Vortex Based on the Orbital Photo Galvanic Effect: Progress, Challenge, and Perspective

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 27, 13 May 2026.
Direct orbital angular momentum (OAM) detection through the orbital photogalvanic effect offers a scalable route for integrated optoelectronics. This perspective evaluates symmetry‐driven material selection and demonstrates how electrode matrices enable the resolution of complex, mixed OAM modes.

Octupolar AIEgens Photosensitizers With Enhanced Molar Absorptivity for Near‐Infrared Phototheranostics

open access: yesAggregate, Volume 7, Issue 5, May 2026.
Symmetry‐guided molecular engineering transforms dipolar AIEgens into octupolar AIEgens (D(A)3) with enhanced NIR‐II absorptivity. The octupolar architecture activates additional S0→S2 transitions and promotes efficient intersystem crossing, leading to strong reactive oxygen species generation.

Circularly Polarized Short‐Wave Infrared Photodetection and Disinfection of E. coli Triggered by Biomolecule‐Mediated Chiral PbS Films via Solid‐State Ligand Exchange

open access: yesAggregate, Volume 7, Issue 5, May 2026.
CP‐SWIR photodetectors were fabricated based on biomolecule‐mediated PbS films. With chiral CP‐SWIR radiation, not only high responsivity and detectivity can be achieved but it also leads to stereospecific antibacterial effects in E. coli incubation.

Lattice Fermion Simulation of Spontaneous Time‐Reversal Symmetry Breaking in a Helical Luttinger Liquid

open access: yesAnnalen der Physik, Volume 538, Issue 5, May 2026.
Can a purely one‐dimensional lattice capture the delicate edge physics of a quantum spin Hall system? This work shows that tangent fermions can simulate helical Luttinger liquids without fermion doubling, revealing how strong interactions open a gap and spontaneously break time‐reversal symmetry.
