Pixelated phase computer holograms for the accurate encoding of scalar complex fields [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We describe two holograms of this class that allow high quality reconstruction of the encoded field, even if they are implemented with a low-resolution pixelated phase modulator.

Modulated-grating hologram [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Optics, 1977
By means of a multiple-exposure holographic recording method, a phase-and-amplitude, off-axis hologram, which we call a modulated-grating hologram, has been synthesized from three computer-generated transmission masks. Each mask controls one fixed-phase component of the complex hologram transmittance. The basic grating is generated optically, relieving

Holograms and contemporary culture

open access: yes, 2015
Today, probably more people have imagined or talked about holograms than have examined them first-hand. Holograms occupy an unusual no-man’s land in contemporary culture.

Holographic Mapping of Orbital Angular Momentum using a Terahertz Diffractive Optical Neural Network

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
A compact six‐layer diffractive optical neural network enables direct recognition and spatial mapping of terahertz (THz) orbital angular momentum (OAM) beams. Fabricated by 3D printing, the system distinguishes nine OAM modes and their superpositions with high fidelity, good efficiency, and low crosstalk, offering a scalable solution for THz ...

Toward Intelligent Multimodal Holography for Real‐Time Chemical Imaging of Dynamic Ion Separation

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
Intelligent multimodal holography integrates digital off‐axis holography, spectroscopic imaging, and AI‐driven reconstruction to visualize ion transport and chemical dynamics in real time. In this perspective paper, we outline how this approach enables label‐free, chemically specific monitoring of complex environments and discuss its potential to ...

Laser microsculpting for the generation of robust diffractive security markings on the surface of metals

open access: yes, 2015
We report the development of a laser-based process for the direct writing (‘microsculpting’) of unique security markings (reflective phase holograms) on the surface of metals.
