The Connection Between Associative Memory and Semantic Similarity: Evidence From Fan Experiments and Distributional Models

open access: yesCognitive Science, Volume 50, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract Memory retrieval is prone to interference: when multiple concepts in memory match a given retrieval cue, recall becomes slower and less accurate. This has repeatedly been studied in fan effect experiments in which participants learn facts that are combinations of person–location pairs.

3D bioprinting in oral and craniomaxillofacial tissue regeneration: Progress, challenges, and future directions

open access: yesBMEMat, Volume 4, Issue 1, March 2026.
This paper summarized the application of 3D bioprinting in the regeneration of various tissues in the oral and craniomaxillofacial fields, including the required biomaterials and printing techniques. Abstract Oral and craniomaxillofacial tissues are essential for maintaining oral functions, including respiration, mastication, swallowing, and speech ...

Energy-Efficient Reconfigurable Holographic Surfaces Operating in the Presence of Realistic Hardware Impairments [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Communications
Reconfigurable holographic surfaces (RHSs) constitute a promising technique of supporting energy-efficient communications. In this paper, we formulate the energy efficiency maximization problem of the switch-controlled RHS-aided beamforming architecture ...

Cortical Microvascular Pulsatility in the Aging Mouse Brain and the Confounding Effects of Anesthesia

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 4, 19 January 2026.
Multi‐modal optical imaging reveals microvascular pulsatility in the brain cortex of awake and anaesthetized mice. Awake hemodynamics in male mice are found to be remarkably stable until late life, with flow pulsatility being significantly higher than in females, despite similar average perfusion.

Subduction and Extrusion of an Ultra‐High Pressure Oceanic Plate Interface (Lower Shear Zone, Monviso Massif, Western Alps)

open access: yesTectonics, Volume 45, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract The Lower Shear Zone (LSZ) of the Monviso Massif (Western Alps) constitutes a block‐in‐matrix remnant of the subduction plate interface, now tectonically emplaced into the Western Alpine orogenic belt. Here, we combine observations from cartographic to microscopic scales, focusing on garnet‐bearing lithologies in both the mafic blocks and the ...

Multi‐Grained Vision–Language Alignment for Domain Generalised Person Re‐Identification

open access: yesIET Computer Vision, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
We propose MUVA, a CLIP‐based multi‐grained vision–language alignment framework, for DG Re‐ID. It overcomes nuanced information perception deficiency by jointly learning global and part‐level prompts with vision counterparts, assisted by an AM‐MSA module and an MLLM‐based visual grounding expert.

Human‐Centered Holographic Assistant using Computer Vision to Interact with Battery Manufacturing Machinery in a Predictive Manner

open access: yesBatteries &Supercaps, Volume 8, Issue 12, December 2025.
Human‐centered solution composed of a HoloLens app (client) and a Server app to predict resulting electrode properties in real time as the user manipulates the machinery (calendering in this case). This work focuses on a novel human‐centered digital assistant combining Mixed Reality (MR), Computer Vision, and Machine Learning regression to guide ...
