13.4: The Realism of Reflection Holographic Stereograms

SID Symposium Digest of Technical Papers, 2001
AbstractThe realism of reflection holographic stereograms was evaluated to determine how acceptable they are to a non‐technical audience. The stereograms were rated for realism by comparing them to photographic images and real objects. Although the ratings were favorable, they did not quite achieve the realism of photographic images, but 3D cues of ...

Phase profiles for holographic stereograms

Optical Engineering, 1995
The diffractive phase profile of holographic stereograms is calculated using different types of diffusing functions, which can be categorized in two groups: object-dependent and object-independent diffusers. It is shown that object-independent diffusing profiles lead to considerable computational savings at the expense of some interperspective leakage.

Holographic stereogram using graphic accelerator

SPIE Proceedings, 2006
A holographic stereogram is one of methods for displaying 3-D image data from multiple-view images. In this paper, we propose a method for computing holographic stereogram using graphic accelerator. We use graphic accelerator at two stages of method. One is creating Multiple-view images, and another is synthesizing holographic stereogram. To create and

3D TV by holographic stereogram (II)

SPIE Proceedings, 2007
Computer holographic stereogram (CHS) is useful for holographic 3D TV because it is constructed from the multi horizontal viewpoint plane images and is compatible to the multi-view point images. Each hologram is recorded as a slit hologram (element hologram) but total viewing area and the number of the element holograms have been limited to some extent

Anamorphic imagery in holographic stereograms

Optics Communications, 1973
Abstract Horizontal parallax only (HPO) holographic stereograms may exhibit anamorphic imagery in the reconstructed image. We calculated the anamorphic ratio, using geometrical optics, as a function of recording and viewing geometry. an experimental example verifying the calculated results is presented.

Color conical holographic stereogram

Optical Engineering, 1994
A new method to record a color holographic stereogram and its application in the synthesis of a conical holographic stereogram are presented. The method consists in recording three rainbow holograms on each slit hologram component of the holographic stereogram.

Holographic stereogram printer for computer-generated holograms

Optics, Photonics, and Digital Technologies for Imaging Applications V, 2018
A design and implementation of full-parallax holographic stereogram printer is presented. The holographic stereogram is synthesized using 2D perspective images of the 3D object that are rendered from multiple directions. The perspective images of the 3D scene are firstly captured by a virtual camera and transformed to two-dimensional holographic ...

Large-format cylindrical holographic stereogram

SPIE Proceedings, 1990
To display 3-D images stored in computer, cylindrical holographic stereograms with white light illumination (CHS) is useful because of both one step synthesis and wide viewing angle in the horizontal direction. But it has been difficult to make the vertical size of reconstructed images larger than 20 cm, because conventional optical system for ...

New Methods Of Making Flat Holographic Stereograms

SPIE Proceedings, 1988
In this paper several new methods for making holographic stereograms are presented. Wide angle, white light viewable flat stereograms with higher quality images, i.e, higher resolution, free of distortions and aberrations within a considerable viewing range, could be created.

Generation of intermediate parallax images for holographic stereograms

SPIE Proceedings, 1993
We propose a new image processing approach to construct intermediate parallax-images from parallax-images at coarsely sampled viewpoints for Holographic Stereograms. Compared with the usual method that requires a large number of parallax-images, this approach reduces recording labor.
