Complex Reflectivity Modulation Characteristics at Visible Wavelength Using Liquid Crystal on a Metasurface Device

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, Volume 6, Issue 4, April 2025.
A liquid crystal of twisted nematic mode on a plasmonic antenna metasurface device modulates complex reflectivity with a small voltage variation of 3.1 V on the antenna electrode and 2.5 V on the metal electrode. The largest complex modulation is at a wavelength of 660 nm with phase and reflectivity amplitude modulations of 0–2π radian and 0.3 and 0.6,

Ultrafast All‐Optical Switching and Active Sub‐Cycle Waveform Control via Time‐Variant Photodoping of Terahertz Metasurfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 14, April 10, 2025.
This study introduces a novel time‐resolved spectroscopy approach enabling ultrafast terahertz (THz) modulation in silicon‐based optical switches. Utilizing photon‐induced processes, it achieves a record THz switching time of 1.3 ps and a modulation depth over 500%. The method demonstrates active sub‐cycle pulse control, offering a new pathway for high‐

METHOD FOR PLANE NEAR-FIELD ACOUSTIC HOLOGRAPHY BASED ON COMPRESSIVE SAMPLING AND ITS APPLICATION

open access: yesJixie qiangdu, 2016
In traditional plane near-field acoustic holography reconstruction process, regardless of wave number domain filter or regularization method, they cannot solve their own ill-posed problem, and thus cannot improve the reconstruction accuracy.

Dynamic Steerable Patterning of Microscale Particles and Living Cells Using an Ultrasound‐Phased Array

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, Volume 5, Issue 4, April 2025.
Ultrasound transducers can be used to pattern microscale particles. Herein, it is shown that dynamic patterning, i.e., varying pattern location and direction using transmit beamforming, can be achieved using a (clinical)‐phased array transducer without the need for a reflector. Moreover, initial acoustic patterning results on living cells are presented,

Dual‐coupling networks engineering of self‐assembled ferromagnetic microspheres with enhanced interfacial polarization and magnetic interaction for microwave absorption

open access: yesInfoMat, Volume 7, Issue 4, April 2025.
The hierarchical Fe3O4@C microspheres assembled by abundant core‐shell nano‐spindles are synthesized through a facile spray‐drying method. Originated from strong dielectric and magnetic dual‐coupling networks, the ferromagnetic microspheres exhibited multiple loss mechanisms including interfacial polarization and magnetic interactions, thereby ...

Sourcing the Kerr Geometry

open access: yesFortschritte der Physik, Volume 73, Issue 4, April 2025.
Abstract The Kerr metric is a vacuum solution of the Einstein equations outside of a rotating black hole (BH), but what interior matter is actually rotating and sourcing the Kerr geometry? Here, a rotating exotic matter is described, which can source the Kerr geometry for the entire acceptable range of its spin parameter and be shown to saturate the ...
