We present a method of enhancing the diffraction efficiency of a hologram by placing it inside a resonant optical cavity. The diffraction efficiency improves on account of the multiple passes that the incident light undergoes inside the optical cavity.

A new technique, referred to as Stokes holography, is proposed and experimentally demonstrated for controlled synthesis of generalized Stokes parameters in 3D space using Stokes fringes. Stokes fringes are polarization fringes which permit to record and reconstruct complete wavefront.

A novel reading and writing technology for a holographic storage system called collinear holography is developed. With this method, two-dimensional page data can be recorded as volumetric holograms generated by a reference beam and a signal beam that are bundled on the same axis and irradiated on the recording medium through a single objective lens ...

The conditions for magnetic hologram formation are reviewed and an analysis is given to explain some of the unique polarization effects seen on reconstruction, with both the Faraday and polar Kerr effect reconstructions treated. Experiments are presented which illustrate the features and storage potentials of magnetic holography.

A novel coherent imaging method analogous to electronic differential amplification is described and analyzed. The method is well suited to highlighting local changes in the optical properties of a dynamic object whose more prominent details are largely static. The object may be examined either in transmitted light or in reflected light.
