Outcomes of Pulsed Field Versus Cryoballoon Ablation in Atrial Fibrillation: A Comprehensive Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 42, Issue 1, February 2026.
The key findings of this meta‐analysis are as follows: (1) PFA was associated with a significantly shorter duration compared to the CBA group, (2) PFA was associated with a significantly lower rate of arrhythmia recurrence compared with CBA. Yet, the rate of redo ablation did not differ significantly between both groups, (3) The overall complication ...

Effectiveness, utilisation and cost associated with implantable loop recorders versus external monitors after ischaemic or cryptogenic stroke

open access: yesOpen Heart
Objective Implantable loop recorders (ILRs) are increasingly used for long-term rhythm monitoring after ischaemic and cryptogenic stroke, with the goal of detecting atrial fibrillation (AF) and subsequent initiation of oral anticoagulation to reduce risk

Increased Arrhythmia Risk in Long COVID: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 42, Issue 1, February 2026.
This meta‐analysis included 14 studies. Long COVID was associated with a higher risk of atrial fibrillation, sinus tachycardia, sinus bradycardia, and ventricular arrhythmias. Patients with more severe COVID‐19 infection were at a higher risk of developing arrhythmias in the long term.

Temporal Variability and Influence of Measurement Conditions of AI‐Based Atrial Fibrillation Risk Estimation

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 42, Issue 1, February 2026.
The atrial fibrillation (AF) risk estimated by artificial intelligence‐based program installed in electrocardiography (ECG) machine exhibited temporal variability. Reproducibility within one level of error was 100% for the same ECG, 95% for reproducibility within 4 min interval, and 87% for reproducibility over 15 min interval.

The Brugada syndrome. Outcome of one case

open access: yesArquivos Brasileiros de Cardiologia, 2000
The Brugada syndrome is a rare condition, and due to its mutating manner of presentation it may be difficult to diagnose. We report one case and discuss the diagnostic aspects and the clinical outcome of one patient with characteristic findings of this ...

Phenotypic Analysis of P‐Wave Morphology as a Key Determinant of Late Recurrence Post‐Ablation in Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 42, Issue 1, February 2026.
Phenotype 3, defined by the combination of prolonged Pd and low PWA in leads II, V2, and V6—representing orthogonal planes—was associated with the highest risk of late arrhythmia recurrence after CA, compared to Phenotype 1 (isolated low PWA) and Phenotype 2 (isolated prolonged Pd).

One‐Year Outcome of Japanese Patients With Atrial Fibrillation: Insights From APHRS‐AF Registry

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 42, Issue 1, February 2026.
A total of 794 patients recruited from 28 large cardiovascular centers in Japan were prospectively investigated. Patients were relatively young, had low CHADS2 scores, and relatively few comorbidities such as hypertension. Majority of the patients were scheduled for catheter ablation. Short‐term prognosis was found to be extremely favorable.

Análise da estimulação cardíaca artificial atrioventricular universal (DDD) em comparação à ventricular (VVI): estudo multicêntrico Comparative analysis of universal atrio-ventricular (DDD) vs ventricular (VVI) artificial cardiac stimultion: a multicenter study

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Cardiovascular Surgery, 1986
Este trabalho analisa, em nosso meio, através das avaliações radiológica, cicloergométrica, ecocardiográfica e também na eletrocardiografia dinâmica (Holter), o desempenho da estimulação DDD em relação à VVI.
