Coagulative Granular Hydrogels with an Enzyme Catalyzed Fibrin Network for Endogenous Tissue Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Coagulative granular hydrogels are composed of packed thrombin‐functionalized microgels that catalyze the conversion of fibrinogen into a secondary fibrin network, filling the interstitial voids. This bio‐inspired approach stabilizes the biomaterial to match the robustness of bulk hydrogels without compromising injectability, mimicking the initial ...

Fluorescent Polymeric Nanofibers as Ratiometric Multiplexed Skin Sensors of pH and Oxygen

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Fluorescent polymeric nanofibers and nanorods are produced as ratiometric sensors of two important physiological parameters: pH and oxygen. They operate by dual Forster resonance energy transfer from large number of energy donor dyes to limited number of two distinct energy acceptors, enabling simultaneous sensing of pH and oxygen.

Biomimetic Fibrinogen Nanofiber Scaffolds for Vascular Hematopoietic Stem Cell Niche Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents an advanced in vitro model of the vascular hematopoietic stem cell niche using self‐assembled fibrinogen nanofibers, mimicking the basement membrane in bone marrow (BM) sinusoids. The model supports the coculture of microvascular endothelial cells, stromal cells, and hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells, providing insights into ...

Wearable Cuff-Less Blood Pressure Estimation at Home via Pulse Transit Time

open access: yesIEEE journal of biomedical and health informatics, 2020
Objective: We developed a wearable watch-based device to provide noninvasive, cuff-less blood pressure (BP) estimation in an at-home setting. Methods: The watch measures single-lead electrocardiogram (ECG), tri-axial seismocardiogram (SCG), and multi ...

Self‐Assembling Peptide Hydrogels Support Stromal Vascular Fraction Viability to Promote In Vivo Nerve Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Stromal vascular fraction (SVF) may enhance nerve repair, especially when delivered in a self‐assembling peptide hydrogel (SAPH). In vitro, softer SAPH increased neuronal explant outgrowth and supported greater SVF viability and proliferation. In a rat sciatic defect, SVF in an optimized SAPH produced motor and sensory recovery equivalent to autograft ...

What is the best way to identify patients with white-coat hypertension? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring is currently the gold standard for detecting patients with white-coat hypertension. Women and all patients with lower office systolic blood pressures, stage I hypertension, and no target organ damage are more likely ...
