Role of Prednisone and 25(OH) Vitamin D on Bone Mineral Density and Osteoporosis in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective We evaluated the role of 25‐hydroxy vitamin D, prednisone and other risk factors for bone mineral density (BMD) loss and osteoporosis in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Methods We calculated the association between 25‐hydroxy vitamin D [25(OH)D] levels and other potential risk factors with BMD measures (spine T‐scores) and osteoporosis ...

Laser Metal Deposited Ti4822 Hollow Pipe: Experimental and Computational Modelling Study

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Laser metal deposition (LMD) of a crack‐free built Ti4822 alloys is challenging. This article reports outstanding characteristics of a hollow pipe that is built with LMD technology when a predicted, nontransformation substrate temperature of 800 °C is used.

Variations in drug-related problems detected by multidisciplinary teams in Norwegian nursing homes and home nursing care

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Primary Health Care, 2018
Objective: Traditionally, nursing homes have been associated with suboptimal drug therapy and drug-related problems (DRPs). In contrast, less is known about drug safety in homecare.

Electrospark‐Deposited AlCrFeCoNi High‐Entropy Alloy Coatings on Steel: Microstructure Evolution, Mechanical Properties, and Corrosion Response

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
AlCrFeCoNi high entropy alloy coating is applied on steel using electrospark deposition. The microstructure evolution and phase transformation of the as‐deposited and heat‐treated coatings is characterized and discussed. Reduced microhardness and yield strength are measured after heat treatment.

Modulating Two‐Photon Absorption in a Pyrene‐Based MOF Series: An In‐Depth Investigation of Structure–Property Relationships

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates H4TBAPy‐based metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) ‐ NU‐1000, NU‐901, SrTBAPy, and BaTBAPy ‐ for multiphoton absorption (MPA) performance. It observes topology‐dependent variations in the 2PA cross‐section, with BaTBAPy exhibiting the highest activity.

Transparent Inorganic–Organic Bilayer Neural Electrode Array and Integration to Miniscope System for In Vivo Calcium Imaging and Electrophysiology

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents the BioCLEAR system, a highly transparent and conductive neural electrode array composed of silver nanowires (AgNWs) and doped PEDOT:PSS, enabling neural recordings with minimal optical artifacts. When integrated with a GRIN lens, this cost‐effective neural implant allows simultaneous electrophysiological recording and GCaMP6‐based ...
