Treatment with Plasma Activated (Salt) Water Sterilizes Macromolecular Coatings While Maintaining Their Integrity and Functionality

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, Volume 13, Issue 3, 3 February 2026.
PDMS samples were covalently coated with mucin glycoproteins and then treated with either plasma activated water (PAW) or saline (PAS) as a means of disinfection. The samples could be successfully sterilized without compromising the structural integrity or functionality of those coatings.

Single‐Cell Metabolic Imaging Reveals Glycogen‐Driven Adaptations in Endothelial Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 7, 3 February 2026.
Single‐cell metabolic imaging of diabetes‐associated endothelial dysfunction by SRS microscopy reveals dynamic glycogen storage and its role in modulating metabolic adaptations under glucose starvation. Abstract Endothelial dysfunction (ED) is a defining feature of diabetes mellitus (DM) and a key contributor to many metabolic and cardiovascular ...

Figure‐of‐Eight Stabilizing Shoulder Taping Combined With Ultrasound‐Guided Exercise Therapy for Traumatic Recurrent Massive Rotator Cuff Tear: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Figure‐of‐eight stabilizing shoulder taping immediately reduced pain and restored joint centering in a patient with traumatic recurrent massive rotator cuff tear. When combined with real‐time ultrasound‐guided exercise therapy, it facilitated selective posterior cuff activation and enabled short‐term functional recovery, offering a feasible ...

Association Between Abnormal DNA Methylation and Altered Transcriptome in Muscle Five Years After Critical Illness

open access: yesJournal of Cachexia, Sarcopenia and Muscle, Volume 17, Issue 1, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Critically ill patients requiring intensive care unit (ICU) admission suffer from muscle weakness that persists for years. Recently, altered RNA expression was documented in muscle of former ICU patients 5 years after critical illness that suggested disrupted mitochondrial function, disturbed lipid metabolism and fibrosis, of which ...

Calf circumference predicts sarcopenia and all‐cause mortality in older patients undergoing maintenance hemodialysis: A prospective cohort study

open access: yesNutrition in Clinical Practice, Volume 41, Issue 1, Page 235-244, February 2026.
Abstract Background The role of calf circumference (CC) in predicting sarcopenia and mortality of patients undergoing maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) remains debated. This study assessed CC's predictive value, optimal threshold, and mortality association in older patients undergoing MHD. Methods An observational cohort study was conducted on older adult
