Kentin Roma Dönemi sikkeleri üzerinde görülen Homeros portresi ve “Amastrisli Homeros” epiteti dikkat çekmektedir. Amastrislilerin bu yolla Homeros’un doğduğu kent olduğunu iddia ettikleri anlaşılmaktadır.
