A Comparison of Homing Behavior in Feral and Homing Pigeons

Zeitschrift für Tierpsychologie, 2010
Three series of experiments were conducted to determine whether the orientational and homing behavior of feral pigeons ("Commons") in the U.S.A. is comparable to that of homing pigeons. Wild-caught adult and juvenile Commons showed meaningful nonrandom orientation when released at unfamiliar sites.

Homing Behavior of Pigeons after Telencephalic Ablations

Brain, Behavior and Evolution, 1984
In a first experiment, dorsomedial forebrain ablated birds showed similar homeward orientation when compared to untreated controls independent of whether the birds were released from a previous training site or a site they had never been before. However, although all control birds returned to the home loft, only 2 of 28 birds with lesions homed ...

Dorsomedial Forebrain Ablations and Home Loft Association Behavior in Homing Pigeons

Brain, Behavior and Evolution, 1985
In a series of experiments which involved only short distance experimental releases (800 m or less and within view of the home loft), it was demonstrated that dorsomedial forebrain ablated pigeons generally failed to reassociate with their home loft if the postablation experimental release took place soon postablation or if during the time between ...

Smart home user's behavior prediction

2013 IEEE Third International Conference on Consumer Electronics ¿ Berlin (ICCE-Berlin), 2013
Modern Smart Home solutions can be generally classified as sensor-based or user-directive based. Prediction of the User Behavior is a very promising approach because it improves usability of Smart Home devices critical for their future expansion. It requires an effective enough, cheap, flexible, and easy implemented algorithms.

Behaviorally Informed Home Mortgage Regulation

SSRN Electronic Journal, 2008
Choosing a mortgage is one of the biggest financial decisions an American consumer will make. Yet it can be a complicated one, especially in today's environment where mortgages vary in dimensions and unique features. This complexity has raised regulatory issues. Should some features be regulated? Should product disclosure be regulated?

Homing Behavior in Walleyes

Transactions of the American Fisheries Society, 1962
Abstract Records obtained from the Muskegon River system, the Inland Waterway, and Bay de Noc in northern Lake Michigan indicate that walleyes return to the same spawning areas year after year. Walleyes were tagged and released during the spawning period at several locations.

Homing Behavior of Spawning Walleyes

Transactions of the American Fisheries Society, 1962
Abstract Study of marked adult walleyes returning to a spawning site in Many Point Lake, northern Minnesota, showed evidence of homing behavior rather than a strictly random return in successive years. The homing behavior, however, was not shown by the majority of the fish, and among those which evinced homing behavior the pattern of return was ...

Behavior-Based Home Energy Prediction

2012 Eighth International Conference on Intelligent Environments, 2012
In the effort to build a sustainable society, smart home research attention is being directed toward green technology and environmentally-friendly building designs. In this paper, we analyze the distribution of home energy consumption, and then present both linear and non-linear regression learning models for predicting energy usage given known human ...
