Three-component carbon-carbon bond-forming reactions for the synthesis of β-amino carbonyl compounds using maleic acid-catalyzed one-pot mannich-type reaction in ethanol [PDF]

open access: yesKragujevac Journal of Science, 2018
Herein, we described a one-pot, three-component and environmentally benign method for the synthesis of β-amino ketones based on the reaction of acetophenones, aromatic aldehydes, and aromatic amines using maleic acid as a green catalyst in ethanol as ...

Sustainable Catalyst‐Free PLG Networks: Recyclability, Biodegradability, and Functional Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A catalyst‐additive free covalent adaptable network is developed from star‐shaped poly(lactide‐co‐glycolide) cross‐linked with pyromellitic dianhydride, enabling internal carboxylic acid‐driven transesterification. The resulting biodegradable network exhibits mechanical robustness (Young's modulus ≈1.6 GPa), complete recyclability, rapid biodegradation

Application of a Taylor-Couette Reactor in Homogeneous Catalysis

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2015
New developments of synthesis routes in homogeneous catalysis often require a precise control of the reaction conditions in order to achieve optimal results.

Ethene dimerization on zeolite-hosted Ni ions : reversible mobilization of the active site [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The active site in ethene oligomerization catalyzed by Ni-zeolites is proposed to be a mobile Ni(II) complex, based on density functional theory-based molecular dynamics (DFT-MD) simulations corroborated by continuous-flow experiments on Ni-SSZ-24 ...

Actuating and Sensing Composites of Liquid Crystal Elastomers and Poly(ionic liquid)s

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ionic conductive, mechanically tough, flexible, and stretchable filaments of a composite material comprising a liquid crystal elastomer and a poly(ionic liquid) are produced through 3D printing, which exhibit large actuation strain under stimulation and electrical resistance variation in response to deformation or environmental condition changes. Their

Light Activated Induction of Cuproptosis in Resistant Cancer Cells Using Polymeric BODIPY Nanoparticles for Photoactivated Chemotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents a photo‐responsive nanoparticle platform that precisely triggers copper‐dependent cuproptotic cell death in (drug‐resistant) cancer cells. The system remains stable and inactive in the dark but releases cytotoxic species upon red‐light irradiation, achieving potent activity in drug‐resistant breast cancer cells.

Heterogenised Homogeneous Catalyst

open access: yesPlatinum Metals Review, 1977
Heterogeneous versions of homogeneous catalysts can often be produced and may have certain advantages in use particularly on a commercial scale. The catalytic chemistry of supported rhodium compounds for the carbonylation of methanol is described and the behaviour of heterogeneous and homogeneous operation compared in order to illustrate the relations ...

ECUT: Energy Conversion and Utilization Technologies program. Heterogeneous catalysis modeling program concept [PDF]

open access: yes
Insufficient theoretical definition of heterogeneous catalysts is the major difficulty confronting industrial suppliers who seek catalyst systems which are more active, selective, and stable than those currently available.

Photo‐Controlled Antibacterial Drug Release From DASA‐Coated Silica Particles for Improved Treatment of Wound Infections

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Synthesis and characterization of light‐responsive donor–acceptor Stenhouse adducts (DASA)‐coated chlorhexidine‐loaded silica nanoparticles. Such a controllable drug‐delivery system enables the release of the antimicrobial drug on demand and in consecutive cycles, thereby maintaining the concentration within the therapeutic window.
